Product Review - Harbor Freight Panel Popper
« on: May 29, 2010, 10:59:14 AM »
Harbor Freight Panel Poper, part number 67399

[ Guests cannot view attachments ]

A while back I was lusting after these.  2K had one from Snapon, but I didn't want to pay that price.  So I looked them up on the Snapon site and really decided that I didn't want to pay that price :)  So I checked with our own SNB, but he could not get a group buy.

Treemans some a set at Autozone - 10 bucks
Tomato Soup found them on line at Harbor Freight - <8 bucks

So I went by my local Harbor Freight and picked a set up.  Like most tools went into the tool box to never be used.  But wait there is more.  2K had re-wired two new radios for me, one for my Xterra and one for my Frontier.  Well the speakers started rattling in the Frontier, so I started speaker shopping.  Checking with my audio experts 2K AND dbg I ended up ordering a set of Polk db6501 components for the front and Polk db501 for the rear.

So I broke out my new and untried panel remover tool (or whatever it is called), and used it to remove all four doors and replaced my speakers.  The tool worked every bit as wll as 2K's Snap on product and I am very happy with it.  Speakers sound great as well

Nice.  I like those better than my simply pry style one.  May need to make a trip to the store now.
07 Deep GXP auto.  A lot of cosmetic upgrades but not enough performace mods. YET.

Nice... Anyone find this yet in Canada? Checked the Princess Auto web site and they don't have such a thing listed.

Yes, I like them too, but horses-for-courses, sometimes these won't fit where the regular lever poppers will.  So best to have both.

Tip: these have sharpish edges (not razor sharp, but scratch-sharp).  I cleaned them off with den. alcohol and stuck strips of electrical tape to the bottom side - hopefully to avoid any paint scratches in use.

The work great and will pop any panel held in place by Christmas tree push pins and spring clips, on our car the doors and dash.
