EDAG on Craigslist in Tampa Area
« on: July 01, 2010, 11:28:08 PM »
I own a Sky but if I had a Solstice I think I would want one of these for the Winter months.

No, it will not fit a Sky. The deck lids are significantly different, with the mating surface of the Sky a bit wider and lower.

Strange though, I seem to remember them selling for $2500.

Unpainted ones were selling for $2500.   The ones I looked at in Nashville during the 2nd nationals needed a quite a bit of prep work to get rid of the seams.  It appeared not to be a one piece mold.

Kinda looks like what Harold (from the movie "Harold and Maude") did to his E-type Jag...

TomatoSoup, thanks for the post.  I must say it is unique for sure, and pardon my comments in advance but... and I will prefice my remarks, and this statement is way off topic, but it is somewhat funny or hilarious or at least was to us at one time.  Please don't think I should be commited so here goes.

Back in my fraternity days at Alpha Sigma Phi, I had a fraternity brother who came to college with a Hearse.  Please don't think I am mad, but his dad was in the mortuary business, uh, he owned a Funeral Home.  The Hearse however has it's good points.  It was a great dating car.  Lots of room to make out.  Well, getting a bit off topic here so lets get back to the thread...

The hood, chrome and finish and the front curves are super sexy.  The back end is just classic.  Thanks for the post.

On this EDAG top, is there something that covers the decklid paint on the inside...lets say in case I wanted to throw some stuff in the back??  Or will it just sit on top of the actual exterior paint on the decklid?

IIRC, the rear deck lid is removed prior to install.  As DeepBlue says, A LOT of prep work.  Again, IIRC, at Nashville, the prototype did not yet have a fiinished trunk space yet.

It looked like GM's concept of the Chevy Nomad

Yes, the decklid is removed to install the SportWagon top. No interior "floor was ever developed by EDAG.

The convertible top can be left in place, in which case there is still relatively little cargo space, and uses the folded top for the cargo floor. It can also be removed, which increases cargo space dramatically and keeps the convertible top out of harm's way, but then requires re-alignment to return the car to its standard configuration.

There was a person in Va Bch who had one in late 08' and let it go for a song - believe it was $300.  I would only use it for a few months and thus would only do the install/deinstall twice a year.  I would think it would not really be worth having in a warm clime, like Tampa.  Perhaps for people a little North of the mason-dixon it would be a fun and somewhat useful addition.  I think they really look sporty.

I do not see it as useful at all, but I do not see any hardtop being particularly needed or useful. That said, I would like to have one so that, on occasion, I could have a completely unique vehicle.

I knew the the Solstice Nomad concept was stretched 12 inches from the Solstice book, but I didn't realize it had a different tail lights and rear end.

I was thinking with this top, a set of newer MINI headlights and a C1 grill it would look like a slick nomad retrocustom.
