Size: 18x8.5 Offset: +50mm wheels?
« on: August 01, 2010, 12:16:07 PM »
How do you guys think these wheels would fit? Don't want any tire rubbing and I was wondering what other folks have done.

 Size: 18x8.5
 Offset: +50mm
 Backspacing: 6.77"
 Bolt Pattern: 5-110
Just trying to do my part...

50mm offset on a 8.5" wide rim instead of 55mm offset of the 8" wide stock rims will make the rims to stick out of the stock location with 12mm. I think they will fit perfectly, I just ordered a set of 45mm offset on 8" rims which will stick out with 10mm and I had same question, measured 10mm on the current rubber location and I think the rims will be same level with the fender now that the car is lowered.

P.S. I hope I'm not wrong, please confirm guys

That's a great calculator Kelu, thanks. Looks as though they would stick out another 11mm.

Bob,
Sorry didn't answer you in the "What did you do to your Kappa today" thread.  The 2 wheels I just purchased last week are exactly those dimensions :).  I bought them to match the 4 I have currently on my car, since they are a discontinued item.  I bought them just in case.

I'm running 255's on them with the car lowered, they tuck right up into the wheel well like they belong there.  I don't have any pictures here, but you saw my car at the mod meet, if you remember, actually you might have a picture or might find one in that thread.

Thanks John, that's good information and just what I needed to know. I was looking at the available wheel sizes and wheels at Tirerack but I'm just not feeling it with any of them really.

Wish GM would make another car with our wheel size so there was more available. In the mean time I'll keep looking.

Why I have the feeling this 5x110 is because of Opel? Opel used this damn 5x110 for some time which makes me to believe they are to blame of this

As you  can see from the two attached picture, they fit well and fill the wheel well.  First picture shows the relationship to the body width, the second picture how they fill the well

Critterman, please take this slightly off topic statement as a fact and compliment for BIXABEL, and I mean it!  Your 2006 Cool Solstice Roadster, 2.4 DDM Supercharged is the most handsome back-end on a Kappa I have had the privilege to ever see.   Add to that compliment, the fact that you have Lambo Doors that I  have always wanted.  I mean you have one sweet ride, dude!

There are some Wheel Dealers that can have your wheel pattern cut in a Blank Center if you find a wheel you like .It would be extra but you get the ones you want.

Anyone know what the center bore on the wheels is? Looking at picking up a set of these.

Pretty sure it's 65.1mm.  I think you could run a centering ring to make those work.  How come there's no pic on the site?

I'm really thinking about finding some BBS 5x112 faces and having Rotiform re-barrel them and then just wobbly bolts on the street and leave the SSRs for autox-only.  I can finally get proper offset <+40mm so I wouldn't have to run spacers and f-up the geometry.

There have been many people planning on looking into various hub swaps, Cobalt, CTS-V, Vette, but I haven't heard back on one.

Here's a picture of the wheels. I'll have to inquire as to the availability of centering rings. And about the weight for that matter...

No they just come in 8" wide in an 18" wheel. I have to find out what the weight is first but I do love the lip. Hard to find a lot of wheels with lips. The lip makes it look old school.
