Getting stupid after 3 days in the heat
« on: July 28, 2010, 08:51:16 PM »
First .. I have to ask that any temptation to post the link to the video must be controlled. It has to stay away from ANY SCCA forums as it will be used in a video at our year end banquet. I gave my word. Now - second ... this clip was taken during my last run on the second day of the KC Region's Divisional. The temps had been in the upper 90's, the humidity nearly matched that, I had been at the site from noon to 9PM on Friday (as the Paddock parking dictator) as well as 7AM to 8PM Saturday. Sunday was another scorcher with my heat being about 1PM. The first run was a barn burner and I had gotten too greedy on the second. On this run I had dropped the rear TP to 23 to see how it would act. I found out. The front half of the run was great, but ..........

Lol! Some don't realize that even small elevation changes can have an effect on the car in the parking lots.  :)

23??  That's crazy!

Usually 24 in the rear. Way stiff springs and 315s on 11" rims allow that. Loose on asphalt = neutral on concrete.

I was surrendering to the forces dictated by physics. It sure seemed bigger from behind the steering wheel. Seem like my brain locked (vapor lock?) and my right foot cramped in the "on" position.

I'm just wondering how turning on the windshield wipers helps the spin recovery?!?  Good job keeping the car on course.

Good yuks. When I saw the camera I just HAD to add SOMETHING, including the "OOPS" as I puttered by. The towel and sweat band were a live saver. I brought what I thought was plenty of liquids for the weekend, but after the 9 hours on Friday, I brought even MORE for Saturday/Sunday. STILL not enough, so more for Sunday. GALLONS of water and drinks went IN me and almost ALL was expelled as sweat. The towel thing was a hoot for everybody, but only my nose got a bit burned. LOTS of people that boo hoo'ed my head gear wound up unable to brush their hair on Monday !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
