Is registration still open? I was thinking I was going to have to be a walk-on.

I was trying to go as well, but I just don't have 5 hrs of drive time plus the event in my schedule this weekend.

Yeah, I hear you. Not looking forward to having to get out of the house at 5:30 in order to make it there at 8...honestly that's still bugging me...

I know the feeling...  But this time, it's 10 minutes from my house.  I usually gotta leave butt early to make the ones in Waldorf, Bowie and Cumberland.

True enough...and it's not like I'd be getting that much earlier than I do for work. Still, the drive back should prove...sporting.

At least you can make it to Cumberland that morning! There's no way I'd be able do all that in one day, gotta drive up Friday and get a hotel.

Speaking of Cumberland, I'm hoping to make it up there again in October, work permitting. If I don't autocross this weekend I might try and make next week's race as well. (Once again, work permitting.)

On track to get my Sol back tomorrow.  I just registered it for the AutoX.  Hope I didn't jinx myself  :idk:

:(

Looks like they're keeping my car until mid-week to repaint.  They called today to let me know the color came out "too purple."  At least they're honest

Gotta make sure CDC won't have a problem with me campaigning an obvious rental car.  I'm considering gutting it and leaving as much weight in the garage as I can

But they have us in the same heat.  Have to see if they can put us in different heats.  Don't want to be swapping in the same heat.  Oughta bring the rental just in case....

Bringing the rental.  I've been directed by CINC house to leave the interior in it, though.  We might be able to at least split the halves on the heat, so that I'm shagging cones while you drive and vice versa.  Isn't that how CDC runs heats?  Split with two lines of cars?

If your turbo bearings are going south, though, it may not be a good idea.  We'll talk about it more in the morning.

Just have Treeman run first and you run mid way through the heat.

Split heats, A and B Group.  One works A and watches the other, and the co-driver runs, and vice versa.

Had a blast!  A big THANK YOU to Treeman for letting me co-drive.  I think we both learned a little from that experience.  I was afraid to drive his car as aggressively as I autocross my own, and wound up faster for it.  I guess there really is something to that old "slow down to go fast" mantra  :drive: :idk:

Yup!  I really learned slower is faster today.  Being cautious, 2KW4U was 4 seconds faster than my tire sliding antics.  I had fun today but even more, learned that I can make major improvements in my driving style.  As soon as slowed down some, I instantly got better.  However, slow is not in my nature and it is going to take some discipline here.

Thanks also to Ben for a fun ride along.  My first time in a car like that around a course - it was awesome!

The KP crew did great today!  Good turnout and everybody is getting better with every run.

Here's Treeman's ride-along.  This was the third afternoon run, a 44.8, good for 8th place overall.  Max. lateral Gs were 1.38.

Not bad for a postage stamp sized lot.  Larry Casey's course design used every inch.  Notice Wade Chamberlain sliding around the turn in front of us just before we launched.

I wimped out and only ran in the morning. A close call that echoed my crash last August + not having eaten anything meant I didn't feel up to running. Really enjoyed Larry's course once I learned it. A very smooth, flowing course were you could build up some surprising speed. I nearly learned that the hard way when I nearly spun off the lot. Felt like 4-wheel drift leading into oversteer, Ben rode along, maybe he'll add something. Anyway, this time I got the rear end of the car back under control and everything was fine. (Although once I finished things settled in...)

The big success of the day was all the information I gathered...as some of you know I'm considering getting rid of my car, both because parts are really starting to become scarce, and because I want something more track worthy. Well I talked to some people, and I'm working through my options. I've got a couple ideas I'm tinkering with.

Nice run Ben, and Bob riding with him his always a trill, but don't let him kid you he can drive the wheels off that car.

Can't wait to see everyone's time.

Results are up.  Due to a computer glitch, they compiled these from time sheets manually, so let CDC know if anything looks wrong.

There are a bunch of funny names in the list, I really like how CDC has a sense of humor and allows that.
One of these days my schedule will allow for me to get down to one of these events.
October is crazy for me so that's a no go.
Wife's B-Day
Wedding Anniversary
Philadelphia Zoo trip
Halloween Party
That about kills all the weekends.

Well, if and when you decide to go, let me know. I will definitely go.

As far as the naming goes, they allow you to post your results under a nickname, I believe, when you sign up. Because, YES, I ALMOST signed up!
