Well, has begun.

This year will be first year when a drag racing championship will take place in Romania. After having some drag race events, after learning from our more advanced neighbors the hungarians, after every member of the team got some experience in various aspects, after forming a great team and acquiring a professional timing system it was the time to start something big in this country.

For the moment only 3 stages are confirmed, 2 of them on streets and one on airport. A 4th one is in discussion.

1st stage - 29th of August 2010 - 150 miles North from capital (where I live)
2nd stage - 4th of September 2010 - 120 miles West from capital
3rd stage - 11th September 2010 - 175 miles East from capital, this event will be big with various attractions and will took place on 2 days

One of the guys bought a professional timing system for drag from US which we will be using in all races. I'm part of the administration team which will organize the races from technical point of view, I will be racing too. The 2010 will be a testing championship, we will learn different unpredictable aspects and be prepared for a full season National Championship for 2011.

Wining with stock engine, not likely.

In my group some competition:
- My friend with Opel Speedster running above 400hp with 11.2s personal best
- 3 or 4 BMWs (2.0 - 2.5) turboed, estimated low-mid 12s
- WV Polo around 400hp with 12.6s personal best
- VW Golf GTI with 12.4s personal best
- Seat Leon upgraded turbo estimated high 12s
- 2 or 3 Fiat Coupes estimated low-mid 13s
- Many VAG cars (Skodas, VW, Audis) with upgraded turbos

My target is to get into the final 8.

No, nothing related to the parts from the wrecked GT. I'm working to spray my sucker.
I plan on a 50hp and if the tests are working good maybe 75hp wet shot.

Asked Lyndon for advices, I know I have to reduce the advance and go colder plugs when spraying but I wait Lyndon's opinion.

Happy now? How I will look if I will not have it runing? Like a bragger?

There was a guy around, pantherqs who helped me with installation of WOT Box and he was spraying too but he is not active in the forums.

Does anyone know other owners who sprayed LNF? Some opinions would help me.

elff: I will have many pictures and videos only if my girlfriend will come with me. She got pretty tired sitting alone from the morning to evening on an airport, I can't blame her, she did it already few times.

Kelu, man that is sweet news! What an honor to have the Drag Racing Championship to be held in your country, Romania! Look forward to following the action for sure. I and all the great members of this forum wish you God's speed!

1st Stage is on, it will take place tomorrow 29th.
I'm about to leave my city with some of my car club friends, others are still there from yesterday because is a bigger event in the City Days celebrations which includes tuning show, kart racing, drift shows and taxi. There will be over 15 cars from my club from which 12 will be racing, did I mentioned that my car club is most important racing club in Romania?

The racing gear:
- solstice cap and under it the Saturn cap
- Kappa cooler bags which are always in my trunk when I travel, a wonderful gift and I must thank members of this forum for it.
- some friends of Gentleman Jack: the white Absolute step son, 2 big cousins called J&B and the brother Jack Daniels among some company to make them pleasant RedBulls and apple juice.

There are over 90 cars registered to the race and of course my group has most registrations, basically there are 2 groups with over 30 registrations (mine the previous group), all the other 6 groups not going over 10 cars.

My aim: to get into final 8 which is compulsory and to win one race in the final which put me into the top 6.

I won't stop sharing my experience no matter what.

I will do my best to win but is hard to win against +380-400hp cars and great drivers, spent a lot on my car but only a little for increasing the power, I hope I will change that soon.

Well, the event was nice, the race was ruined by the rain.

Racing on rain and on a bumpy street with manhole covers all over sucks. Many cars didn't raced, I did as sign of respect to the organizers because they made a big effort for this race.

I raced with heater on because on the first race I did with heater off and on the rain, at the half of the track my windscreen was all boozy, whatta nasty feeling during the race not to see a thing in front, I was looking on the side windows to keep it straight and adjusting the HVAC controls.

I raced with only traction off, no launch control, no WOT Shift, not sure what best ET I got or what place in my group, all I know I was around 14s and I didn't got top 3 places.
The race was stopped in the qualification period because a moron decided to go into a round about after breaking area with 50 mph in a crappy car, hit the curb and flipped the car on a side, race stopped, final results were those from qualification, no finals.

First place in my group:

Rebuilt Nissan 240SX over 450hp (no this is not my friend who I challenged, the challenge was postponed for the next race), actually this a drift car and was driven by the owner which is a Pro Drifter around here. I was behind him in a race and I could see this car sliding from side to side even in 3rd gear

the driver has some skills. His time was 13.28s, I'm sure on a dry and good strip he is a mid or even low 12s.
Second and third place were take by 2 cars which I know, a FWD Seat Leon 1.8T with GT30 and a Fiat Coupe FWD with GT28 turbo.

Some other cars:
Rally Porsche GT2 around 750hp VS fastest romanian drag racing car, 997 Porsche Turbo with 750hp kit from Switzer (VIP race):

The new Ford RS, FWD, 2.5L Turbo 305hp stock, close to 400hp with some boltons and tune:

This car ripped my soul, Camaro LS9 by Hennessey Performance 750hp:
