Thank you, smartin.

A nice movie from the first stage:

Stage 3 is this weekend, 2 days event, I will be in the staff team. I will try 16" wheels with 215 wide intermediate rally slicks (Michelin N21).

New ponies on the way  some dozens

dragula spotted a few times in the movie, but never on the track.  Really wet conditions.

Amazing how close to homes the racing is.  In the USA they barely let marathon runners that close to the audience, let alone 4000 pound cars.  Sure does make for a beautiful backdrop to the drag strip.

My friends are close to quit street drag racing events. Last stage will be on an airport, I was there 3 times in last 2 years, medium traction

Arabas: I was just doing some measurements by the eye
Actually that shot was taken after the race when I was doing tires' pressure for street usage and there I was watching the air compressor gauge.

Arrg, is not postponed, is under working, 95% of the installation is done. If everything goes positive tomorrow night I will have some results. Trunk was the tricky part, not the engine bay

And ... is not bigger turbo.

i know what your current project is...
i am just saying... stop trying to get more power from K04. get a bigger turbo.
for the use you want, i believe is a one way street.

Kelu,
[...] Are you going to go to racing slicks when at the track?  I thought you had to stay with street tires to compete in your class?  Perhaps a set of street slicks are in order?  I'm not sure you would be able to get the power down off the line otherwise.  Also, any thoughts to what this might do to your clutch?  I know there are some options out there, but I didn't see you mention redoing your clutch.  Will this solve your need to shift into 4th at the finish line? or do you think you would be shifting sooner?  guess that is going to depend on your tire size.

Keep us posted, and remember:
:ttiwwp:

GJ
You are correct, I need to use street tires to stay in street category, this is the rule borrowed from Hungary, Romanians don't have more than 3-8 pure race cars so no need to do "race" category as hungarians. Because of this my friends who are organizing this decided to do only one category street cars to race among race cars, in this way they think they will encourage the drivers to tune their cars even more.
Nitrous would put me in race category also, but as long is not such category, I will keep my group and I can race with racing tires also, these rules are for these 3 stages. Next year, I don't know.
I don't care about my clutch it hold over 200-300 runs, over 25 000km and over 1,5 year with over 500Nm, that is AWESOME, I could not find any other brand new car to hold the clutch so much. If it dies it dies, it will be upgraded. Clutch will be redone when will be out.

Using smaller wheels will put me more in 4th gear but I will accelerate better in high speeds, if I can launch same as good as the 18". Also using nitrous I will accelerate even faster, so now I don't care about 4th gear anymore as long I have a decent acceleration on that period.

Well guys I'm so pissed off than I can't write a full review of this race, the event was a big hit in Romania and I'm glad I was in the technical staff.

My performance:
- 2nd place on 60ft with stock wheels, first place was a Opel Speedster doing 11.5s (central engine, rwd, 2200lbs car) and even in my group there were other RWD cars doing 11.9s-12.2s (empty cars with slicks)
- 16th place in my group out of 35 cars with 13.5s

I don't expect to do podiums all the time especially in this group where the level of performance exploded this year, all I was looking was for a good solid improvement. Since last year I keep doing 13.3-13.5s depending on the surface. Small 16" wheels with Michelin N21 didn't helped at all, the car was feeling that accelerates at the final but I was loosing 0.1-0.2s in 60ft and all runs with small wheels are around 13.8s even I sprayed it.

I'm upset because this is the exact same result which I did back in 2009 at my first race when I had only a tune and a slightly better surface.

Kelu, obviously something didn t go as expected, but as Sky888 says, you need some time to figure out your new mod with nitro.
maybe you need a new tune for this mod

SKY888: read carefully, my performance was 16th place in the group, I got 2nd place for 60ft.
And I didn't had weeks for nitrous, I installed it during Monday-Wednesday, Thursday was the dyno day and Saturday I was racing.

Arabas: tune for what? The only thing which needs to be changed when doing a 75-100hp shot is to retart the timing by 2 degrees, no point doing that in my case.

Thank you for your cheer up words, appreciated, maybe somewhere in the future I will be happier, but not this time.

Kelu, I saw that you are 16th place on your group........which is better than last place.

BUT 2nd place on 60ft....which I was congratulating you on!!! :)

2nd place on 60ft is a good achievement...don't you think?

plus the weeks with Nitrous that I was talking about was including your planning and installation.

You did a great job in a very short span of time.............without blowing up your motor especially on a drag race event!

Thats why I was congratulating you as well.....since it only took you weeks to prepare for everything (and days to install the actual nos kit and tuning) ...and you still pulled through.

Hey buddy, i sure do not know better than Lyndon or Vince.
if you know for sure that a new tune is not necessary in order for the nitro to run better, i can t say anymore.
but Lyndon or Vince could give you their approach on this one..

SKY888: being 2nd place on 60ft with stock wheels is indeed a great performance especially if you look at the competitors but is also a nasty proof which tells me that I'm a good driver with a car which is good ONLY for launching and is very weak for power.

Arabas: Yes I did talked with Lyndon and his words pretty much confirmed what I was saying, no need to debate the nitrous subject in this topic
