I challenged a Nissan 200SX rebuit engine
« on: August 22, 2010, 11:00:00 AM »
Gents place your bets.

I have challenged to a friendly race one of my friends who owns a Nissan 200SX, rebuilt engine, internals, GT2876,crank, nistune, clutch, brakes, wheels. He worked over 1 year on this car but because of poor mechanics and tuners around here he kept having issues.

Looks like now he is working great with 250whp but being much lighter than me, in my previous race where I was doing 13.6-13.8, he did a 14.3s but something was wrong with his engine. Looks like he fixed the problem, a faulty water temp sensor which was screwing the readings sporadic which ECU was treating it with lots of gas when a screwed value was coming from the sensor. Yesterday he did a 13.5s and looks like he is pretty happy with it.

In the 1st race, the one from 29th August, the car will be driven by a friend of us because the owner got a broken arm. In the last race from the romanian championship which will take place on 11th of September he hopes to have a good arm and he will race me than. So I will race one car with 2 drivers

I'm attaching some images:

Nissan 200SX, yes Kelu it will be close and that powerplant is stout however my money would be on you to win both races.  Grab the lead with a quick start and your low end torque will be the key for victory!!!!  Looking forward to both races.  I wish I could be there to watch in person, just wish you good luck!  It should be a great race!  :drive: :2c:  :usa: :urock:

This will be hard, the car has only 2 race events as I stated. In last one he dropped half of the second by only raising to 45psi in front tires and dropping to 15psi in the rear tires. I think this car will be eventually doing a low 13s or even 12s.

I hope my wheels will arrive soon so I can mount my Michelin PS2 tires which I bet will be better than my factory Bridgestones.

Thank you for all your good thoughts guys, I hope I will have videos and pictures on this race.

Nissan 200SX, rebuilt engine, internals, GT2876

I vote for the nissan, our turbo has nothing on the gt2876.

from everything you described kelu, I will lean towards the nissan since engine and weight alone, he got the advantage.

the nissan advantage might be slim........so your drag racing skills should be 100% perfect in order for you to pull a win! :)

good luck a bro!

Nissan is favorite in my opinion too, I hope my reaction skills will win over my friend's who didn't raced too much as me.

One more thing, the new timing system will run Sportman NHRA settings and not Pro Tree as I was racing until now, I think is easier for beginners to get small Reaction Times with Sportman tree.

Critterman: I think you are pretty wrong, my gas pedal is all way down from the stage lights, remember I have WOT Shift, I keep same rpm for some seconds with full throttle
If I would let go clutch pedal when second yellow come on, 100% I will red light, pretty same when 2nd is going off. I'm thinking more related to 3rd yellow. We will know for sure after first event because I will test a lot if I will have enough time/races.

Looks like I'm gonna loose first race which will take place 29th of August because he announced me today he will use race gas and will increase AFR from 11.5 as he runs now towards 12, also he will come with 15" rims and Michelin PS2.

My rims looks like they will not arrive this week so no PS2 for me this race. I will try to concentrate on the 2nd leg which will take place on last race of the championship on 11th of September.

The issue is the driver and it sounds to me like he is not that experience, Kelu on the other hand has a lot of experience in this field.
So Kelu's skills could make up the difference at the end of the 1/4.

LV: good point, I'm relaying on that too. Besides that, my mods and optimizations to my car has been proven many times in many races. I always get a constant ET depending on the conditions. On the other hand he is still testing, some optimizations might not help him if he didn't test it until now.

Kelu, believe!!!!  You have proven it in the past on other occasions and events.  You will win this race!  Be calm prior to the race and follow your instincts, little buddie, and win for yourself and this great forum.  I remember and old saying, "One for all, all for one", and Kelu, you have this mighty forum in your corner!  Relax before the race, collect yourself and drive to your ability and that will be enough!  :usa: :drive: :urock:

Kelu, I really don't believe I saw, what I saw?  Are you kidding me, indeed!  Thanks for the post, just amazing thrust and killer speed.  Uh, the down part would be the liters of gas it would take to keep the 2200 Bauxhall Victor on the road, but the sound and power, incredible!!!
