DDM brake lines OR .............
« on: October 09, 2010, 05:59:19 PM »
You just THOUGHT you had a firm brake pedal. Just changed out the OEM brake lines for the DDM brake lines.   :yay:  :yay:

Since changing to CarboTech brake pads and DOT 4, the brakes have been VERY good.. Nearly phenomenal. Now, even with 315 A6 Hoosiers the brakes can easily overcome the front tires. The pedal is a bit firmer on initial application, but when REALLY pushed, the pedal is a lot harder and higher. Makes for better feel and control. Meesa liken it !!!!!!!!!!!!

Bottom line, if you haven't done this mod, have some confidence that there is no down side, and the better pedal feel is a definite plus. I really did not expect this much upside on a modern car, but it's there. A bit of caution - you may run into a bit of a challenge getting the male brake line end (on the car) to engage the female end of the new brake line. It is NOT the DDM brake line - it's the OEM threads. I had to use a thread file to work over the threads and "hold my mouth right" to get it done. So, be careful. Hint -- if the male threaded end is tight coming OUT of the the OEM brake hose, expect some "moments" getting it back together. I ran through nearly a fill quart of brake fluid to flush the lines. Remember, great time to switch to DOT4.

Thanks for the feedback on them Bob!

Also when installing the male end of the stock line into the new lines, always do it before attaching the lines to the car, makes it a lot easier.

We have got a lot of great feedback on these now, so glad everyone is happy with them!

Thanks,
Dave

I really think that this have have been an anomaly. I have done at least 5-6 sets of braided lines on all sorts of cars (77 Civic, 2 Triumphs, 97 Mustang, 2 BMW E30s, etc.),  as well as replacing calipers, wheel cylinders, OEM lines, hard lines, etc., and have never had problems like this. It was definitely the OEM male ends.

One other thing - the fronts DO need to be mounted as in the picture in the instructions or they may touch the shocks at full steering lock. BTW, nice set of instructions.

Dave, you need to make them in RED for those that want to match their tower brace and Backbones.   :kwh: :kwh:

BTW: unrelated ----- what's up with the new LNF intake?
