FF,

No need to remove the fender to remove / swap the ECM.  A few practice tries and it is quite easy to do.

Good Luck!

GJ

I figured as much, but it was, on one hand, a matter of wanting to make sure the install was correct the first time and on the other hand, it made for a nice picture!  :)

Lyndon has tuned many Solsti, one thing he does better than anything else is build race cars. He has a full machine shop get him to do a head for you, should wake things up. I know he has been dieing to do one. He has a flow bench as well so he can flow the intake, port match the exhaust. Shame he is in Canada.

That's a great idea!...hmmm

Call Rhys or Dave @ Saturn Sport
I've spoken with Dave several times and will definitely revisit when the times comes to address the steering.  That is one area that I really have not dealt with in the past.  My plan was to address the issue when it became a limiting factor in terms of performance (both driver and vehicle).  Do you recommend addressing it earlier?

frictionfighter, how is the pushbutton start going?  What an awesome addition!!!
I learned a TON about the electrical systems through the pushbutton install.  Starting with making the terrible assumption that the outer-most pole on the fuse box (orange cap) was ground.  ZOICKS!

The procedure for starting the car is now as follows:
-Turn key to unlock steering column and provide power
-Fuel pump+ switch (pwr/trans relay)
-Push button start (currently wired to what was the #87 pin on the #34 relay --purple wire and a 12V source)

I'm working on a rather exciting idea to replace the switches.  I don't want to share too much yet, but think bluetooth receiver plus microcontroller and a smart phone.

Thanks for your thoughts and support guys!

You will want to get a set of A arms from ASD (Dave), they will increase your steering angle to about 60 degrees, not to expensive either. They also have the full Wilwood rear brake setup, dual calipers second one is the e brake, kind of important in drifting you can't always clutch kick!

Hydraulic e-brake setup is definitely on the list.  I've already experienced the lack of steering angle.  However, I did want to leave something for driver modification...

So the coilovers are installed!  The install was quite easy and straightforward but there were a couple notes of interest.  For one, you have to separate the stock spring perchs and press fit w/ the KW standard perch (easy w/ hammer :) ).  I can provide pictures if that sounds confusing.  Unfortunately, I haven't concerned myself yet with the actual setup but I will provide as much data as I can when I do.

For now:

On the far right, you can see the stock unit.  The top "blue" part is the part that has to be separated from the perch.

Here is one of the front coilovers and two different springs.  I'm running the 60 250.

Here is one of the rear coilovers and two different springs.  I'm running the 70 200.

She leaves for the shop on Thursday for the cage and hardtop install!!  Stay tuned!

Yeah, well I've been in your car.  Who told you 400/460 was right?

Just kidding.  Just kidding.  I don't know what the difference in feel would be between FF and Critter's set ups or how the different set ups would effect drifting, but Critter's car did ride nice.  It was a bit whinny for some reason... :) and it would squeal alot on corners   :drive:

If he brings a rope and skate board I can take you both.  Of course he would have to hold onto all the luggage as well.

But I will give him this, he made me look up the spring rates.  the fronts are 8 kgp and the rears are 6 kpg.

For those that don't speak newtons they are 450 and 337.

Norm's hard top looks incredible! Too bad none of the Sky hard top conversions look good, but at least there's a solution for the Solstice.

How do the side windows fit that top?  Or do you swap out the glass?  (Obviously I'm talking road versions here, not race.)

I'm not quite sure what you are asking.  I can show the final fitments once the dsuz clips are complete.

Guys, I'd love to hear your ideas for this build as well.  Although, I'm building a Kappa, I'm quite new to the Kappa world and would love to have your insight.

Future builds:
    Hydraulic e-brake setup
    Chassis bracing
Wheels and a bit 'o stance work (keep it functional :) )
    Progression to more power
    etc
