DDM Works LNF Oil Catch Can
« on: October 18, 2010, 02:27:57 PM »
Hello everyone,

We finally were able to get the pricing worked out on our end, the design is finalized and have the final prototype being made now to test fitment. The catch can will fit in the opening just inboard of the fuse box under the hood, and then ties both of the vents coming off the valve cover together and into the catch can. This allows us to use 1 catch can instead of 2 and keep oil from going into the intake at the turbo and at the intake tube. There is then a single line going back to the intake. There is a integrated site on the catch can to monitor oil level, or we are going to have an option that allows the captured oil to return automatically to the engine for a little more. The catch can by itself should end up around $140 and will come standard powdercoated black, but we will then offer options for custom powdercoat colors also. We can also have braided stainless lines from the valve cover to the catch can as an option also. We look forward to having the prototype at the end of the week, or early next week and will get some pics up for everyone, and start to take preorders on the catch can then.

Let me know if you have any questions!
Dave

sorry for the double post, but i didn't understand something...
you said two lines will run into the occ and one will go out towards the intake.
1. where is the 2nd line from the crank located (the one i know is right next to the turbo)?
2. what about the pcv with chack valve? since the flow is reversed in this one, i suppose it can not use the same line with the others.

Put me down for one, as well.  You will need to save it though for the NASSM to be held in Austin, Texas in June next year!  Victory Red (Aggressive)would be great under the hood especially with the DDMWorks Red Cross Bay Brace, and let us know how much installation is Dave?

I may get one as well. I don't have a tune but when I took off the stock air box to install the CAI there was a bit of oil at the intake to the turbo. I know that that's normal but how much is too much? Rather not take a chance.
Just trying to do my part...

Yes, the big question is how much is too much... Only way to tell is to compare photos from everyone's vehicles. Good luck with that!

I tried this question over on the "Do we need a catch can?" thread, but got no help.  So thought I'd bring it to the masters :)

I've been thinking about putting in a catch can, but looking at my engine, I've no clue as to how to remove the current hose that goes from the front of the valve cover to the intake of the turbo(?)  I have the fuel line hose release tool, but there's no room to get it in at either end AFAICS.  Dave/Randy, got any tips?

For clarity, this is IBCONSUMING's photo showing his catch can and the hoses replacing the one I want to remove above...

I'm sure the directions in the DDM kit will explain how to do the install.

Sorry, but I wanted to know in advance, to see how difficult/easy it is.

TomatoSoup : this OCC only has a line going to the Turbo in and out from the motor. This needs a Tee In it as wellLike I tried to say in the other post .The one from DDM has 1from check valve line comes off and gets a Tee and comes back to the OCC .

PS When I ran spell check on this it wants to replace JonyMac with "Conman."  Whats up with that?

Update -

We installed several of these at the open house to check final fitment of the production pieces, and they fit great! Attached are a couple of the installs -

The fabrication is nearly complete and we will start taking orders for these by the end of the week and have them up on the website.

We thought they were going to go for $140, but we were able to talk down the price of these some more and will be selling them for $119  :yay: :yay: :yay:

The oil catch can connects to both of the plugs on the valve cover and both of the intake plugs, so it captures all of the oil in the system, so there is no need for 2 catch cans for the different systems.

Full installation instructions will be available when the catch can hits the website.

Let me know if anyone has any questions!
Dave

Devil sticker is an option ;)

We also will be offering custom powdercoat options for these, standard color will be black.
