is there someone who had first tuned his kappa with stock turbo and then upgraded the compressor wheel and retuned?
if yes, did you actually see any significant increase of power?
i am saying that because it is easier when you have a tune and then upgraded wheel tune to spot differences.
Quote from Vince:
"As for power being the same, I’m not really surprised.  I’ve never seen much of a difference in performance with upgraded wheel turbos.  Your airflow numbers are about the same as a stock turbo."

We are still working on resolving the surge issue and then see what Vince can do about power gains.

The above quote is FALSE!!!
I am really surprise Vince will say that.
The stock KO4 only flows at best 34lbs/mn the Upgraded wheel flows at around 38-39lbs/mn.
With 38lbs/mn you have the potential of generating 361BHP.
Have you logged your flow with this upgraded wheel?.

LV, with just a Trifecta tune and stock turbo, Kagem has made almost 350hp at the crank.
i have faith in Vince and i trust his expertise. of course i have no reason to question your knowledge and experience.
maybe it all depends on how someone defines big or small gains.

Dirty Mike, waiting on your dyno news.

Yes, but others with the big wheel are well above that.
The problem that I have with his statement is the wheel does not flow more than stock.
Sorry but that is plain false.
That is the reason I asked about your flow numbers.
I am sure you have logs with the trifecta before the upgrade and so does Kagem.
Let's see what those flow numbers are.
Maybe DDM can post what numbers they have with their own upgraded wheel and tune.

LV as i said, it all depends on how someone defines big gains. maybe Vince thought i was expecting miracles (which i don't).
i thought that since the diameter of the compressor is about 9% bigger, i should expecting 9% more airflow and about 9% increase in power...generally speaking.
i m sure Vince will do his best to offer the best he can.
i m sorry but i can t read the logs, so i can t tell what my airflow numbers are.

waiting for my new updated tune.

Dirty Mike, can you say that you felt an increase in power after the big wheel upgrade?

What i believe is necessary for Arab to do next is change his ic, because he still got the stock on. There is where i expect him to see a big difference. After all these mods we all do or have done, in the end the money invested to upgrades would reach the cost of having done something bigger at once from the start. There are tuners here who they take your car, and with 4-5 thousand they give it back to you much much stronger. Anyway, last Wednesday at the races between me and Arab, what i saw whas that after changing from 3rd to 4rth gear his car started gaining ground and make a satisfied difference, but because of surge issues he dropped the race and never had the chance to see how much of a difference there whould be at high speed. We hope after resolving all issues and finnaly runing the right tune, the car will run much better and faster....

Thx Kagem! for the record (coz i don t want people to think i m an idiot) i was datalogging, which is necessary to do, and racing at the same time, so that i make only one strong pull since i have surge issues.
i m in for an IC but my bank account doesnt agree with me right now...

The IC is not need it unless you are doing a lot of racing.
The GM drift car use it for a while, although in their case the larger IC was a MUST.
The car was pretty strong even with the OEM IC.
The problem was heat soak after the 1st event/run.

Just FYI the turbo gasket pictured in the diagram is not the correct gasket.
The actual gasket at least on my 07 GXP is a smash ring gasket that fits in a groove a on the stock cat flange.

LV and Dirty Mike, if i may ask for a favor...
if you happen to get in a drag strip some time soon, and have someone help you, could you pls take a video for me, monitoring the rpm and boost as you accelerate from rollind 3rd gear and 2000rpm?
i would love to compare to mine.

this mod should be called the big wheel headache..... :banghead:

Arabas,
Maybe is the way I drive my car but it never sees 2000 RPM on 3rd gear.
Also I believe your Big Wheel is a bit larger than ours.
I know DDM mice mine when they installed it, to see what the actual size was.
I do not remember what Dave said when he did it.
I can tell you this much, that without having to go all the way to the floor, it will show 23 psi on the DIC on 3rd gear with no hesitation.
