The best performance mod ever... DDM Works Center Console
« on: January 16, 2011, 04:19:44 PM »
for you cold drink :)

We have been working on this and it is getting close to final production, just wanted to get a little feedback from everyone on what they think.

It is a full replacement piece center console that is a new piece, not a modified original. The new center console is made from several layers of fiberglass and features 2 cup holders and a raised area arm rest. This makes it more comfortable to rest your arm on the console while driving and gives you a place to set your drinks that is a little more convienant. For me personally it is finally a great place to put your cell phone and loose change :)

As you can see by the pictures, the cup holders fit inside of where most people rest their arms when driving. Also we have tested this on several customers that have stopped by the shop and have found that it fits with all of the body types that have sat with it in the car.

Is it going to drop your quarter mile times? probably not, but at least you can have a nice drink after you are done running :)

There are 2 different cup holders that we are looking to offer with this. The first pictures show a stainless steel inserts that we have tried. These inserts are designed to fit cans of soda, but fit most of the phones we have tried in them. They measure 2 5/8" inside dimension and 2" deep. The other inserts are plastic and are 2 3/4" inside diameter and 2 " deep.

We are going to be selling the center consoles finished in gel coat (smooth gray color) for hopefully around $110 with the plastic inserts and a couple bucks more for the stainless inserts. We will be offering to cover them also, and I am sure that JPM will be happy to cover them also, no pricing on that though yet.

Let me know what you think.

Pre-orders are going to start in about a week or so, with delivery 2-3 weeks after that.

Fitment will be for the Sky, Solstice and Opel GT.

You may want to ship one to JPM so they can make templates for fabric for the new design.

Would they be paintable?

Yes they are paintable, they have the same surface finish as the fenders we make.

The problem is justifying this after you had JPM upgrade your original center console.
It looks good though.

Looks pretty sweet. I wouldnt need it because I dont allow drinks in my vehicles, but would ocme in handy for those that do. Also, instead of making a whole new thread about it to get a simple answer here, whats going on with the 3 gauge radio surround? not being made anymore?

I wonder if JPM will take swaps on the old one and offer a discount on recovering.  It looks great and would be really helpful!!

Looks cool guys. For those wondering, I don't think this will be able to be covered without A LOT of seam work and fitting.

This is a great idea. Now why didn't the whiz kids at Pontiac think of this? Also, I wonder if it can be fitted with JPM's center consul? I would really like to match the JPM center consul I've got.
