You can use a HANS device to protect your neck.

But not the top of your head... see above.

Correct, HANS won't help you in a rollover.

If I have to get somebody out of a seat belt in an emergency I'm not looking for some a release button of any sort, I'd use my knife.

agreed, and EMT's along with Fire Rescue should all have trauma sheers on them, but not every person on the road carries a knife and the DOT likes making things simple enough for dummies.

Thank all for all the great comment. In the end I'm probably just gonna take them out and fix the OEM seats. I just thought that maybe Recaro seats might fit. I know that they're supposed to fit all cars, but ours might be a tad too tight.

They should fit, our seats are pretty big. Let us know if & what fixes your seat.

Biggest problem is most aftermarket seats have shoulder bolsters, and the narrow cabin in our cars wasn't designed to fit such seats. Cobra Roadster 7 seats should fit perfectly, but shipping costs to get them to the U.S. from England was a deal breaker for me.

Will do. I'm gonna look into it when I get home next week. I've been gone since Christmas day, and am more then ready for a glass or two of wine.

Knife is in pocket.
Pocket is covered by seat belt.

There are harnesses with release buttons.

I'm thinking he would probably get out of his own car first to assist them, making it much easier to get to his knife. Ofcorse it would be much faster & easier to just release the latch/es.

I have had a ton of different seats in my solstice. The first set was Sparco Fighters. Great seats but the top boltsters hit the door panels. I then tried Sparco Monza's They fit great, just had to take one of the adjusting knobs off each seat because it was hitting our firewall.
Next up was the Bride Low Max, a lot better then all of the seats, just  bit tight on my butt, so I traded in one more time for Bride Vorga's. I still have these seats in the car. By far the best seat I ever bought.
