Boxster brembo calipers
« on: March 18, 2011, 12:01:29 AM »
I borrowed a Porsche Boxster front caliper and I am testing with it.

Advantages of this caliper:

a) Weight, it only weights 2.6kg
b) Monoblock design (no bolted 2 parts caliper)
c) Cheap (2nd hand)
d) Full range of racing pads
e) Easy to fit

This caliper is originally fitted to bite a 299x24 disc brake, almost the same as our stock front rotors. I removed a pad from the Porsche caliper and put on the disc braking surface, the pad fits perfect, no more no less, so good news.

The set up I am looking for is:
Rotora 330x30 4p front (done)
Stock 297x25 disc + Porsche 4p rear

As you can see, the pad area is very similar to the Rotora pads. The whole caliper is almost same size to the Rotora 4p

I had a set of brake lines that fitted the calipers... I would need and adaptor on the other side of the brake hose.

Weight (In kg)

This caliper fits pretty well our discs, you only need to make your own brackets + brake lines. So here you have a cheap and good mod.
Solo + Magnaflow 3" exhaust
OZ Ultraleggera 19"
Rotora 4p front
Brembo 4p rear

hmmmm.... interesting mod.  Any issues with our lines / resevoir being able to provide enough "pushing" power to operate these properly?

What year Boxster?

Part nrs.:
986.351.421.03 LEFT
986.351.422.03 RIGHT

Fitted on front Boxsters (not "S" versions) from '99 til today.

Didn't have probs with the swap from stock to rotoras in front so the same now.

I'm posting more pics later.

This calipers are really thick.

Forget to fit this on stock rims, 10-15mm spacer needed.

That's a FRONT knuckle and a REAR brake disc. Not the final set up I want but it's good to get an idea (front discs are on the car right now and I can't remove anything from the car cause it's daily driven).

Once I see everything it's ok, I'll buy a new front brake disc set and I'll make the brackets.

Cool!  I will have to see what fits and how much these parts are here.  So no good with stock wheels?

My car has 8" ET38 Ultraleggeras fitted and there is enough clearance (no spacers). You will need 10-15mm spacers with the stock rims, that means longer wheel studs but I think it worths it.

The most important fact is that the pad covers the whole disc braking surface and there is enough space to add a bracket in the knuckle.

I'll make the brackets in steel, but not right now, this will have to wait.

Maybe it is too early in the morning to fully understand some things. So -

Which end of the car is this on - front or rear? The answer to THAT will mean a couple more questions.

I did not open this topic to get any advice... I know what I need and what I want. Nobody like me knows what I am looking for.

This is something like how to.

This is probably too late, but if you get the upright/hub carrier off again, can you see if you can fit a C5 or C6 hub on ?
