The vent TSB has obviously never been done on mine. It will be soon.  :D  To say that the rear end is sweating is not an acceptable answer. Is he saying that the rear axle housing has a hole in the casting? A leak is a leak...

Went to the dealer today to address the leak in the rear end vent. I showed them the TSB and they said that with the number it'll make the troubleshooting simple for the mechanic, he won't have to look it up. They said to bring it in Monday so they can get at it first thing Tuesday.

No arguments or discussion of any sort really. Just showed them the picture and it was, "yep it's leaking, when would you like to bring it in?"

They said that they will put it inside over night as well and she put it in the computer so they do. They do a lot of 'vettes so they are used to anal customers.

Just installed a DDM Pro-Beam and noticed the right side had some fluid and dirt hanging to it. Not sure if the Mobil 1 shop forgot to clean up after swaping it out to a syn fluid .........

The dealer said that the vent failed from autox the car and overheating of the fluid. I told the tech no cones this year and had the fluid replaced with Mobil 1 syn. So  they will do the vent relocation under wrty.

Not sure what the response would have been if I mentioned the three hot laps at NHMS.

I would definately call the dealer back and have them check it out, maybe there is a leak in the Rear Differential.

You could wipe it down, drive it for a week or so and check it again. If you don't have drips under the car it's not a serious leak and certainly won't be catastrophic if you don't take care of it right away.

If it does turn out to be a leak that reoccurs then yes I would get a dealer to address it. Does it look as though it is wet around and from the fill plug?

I took mine in today and they put it up on the hoist before I left the dealership. They are ordering the parts and I pick it up after work. No drama and no problems. The TSB for the vent leak is being done under warranty.

Picked the car up today and they did the rear differential vent TSB, for no charge of course. They did put the car in the shop over night as they said they would and when I went to pick it up today, it wasn't parked where all the other cars and trucks are parked after service is complete.
It was parked in the lot with the new vehicles on an angle so no one could park close to it. This is a great dealer.

That was smart of them to park it there. ;)

Hope this solves your differential issues. It should.

Yeah I have no doubt that it will. The leak I believe is an old one as the oil around the vent and down the side of the case looked as though it had been there for a while.

All should be well now.

I put complete failure but not true, just best choice in poll.  Took car in for routine something and tech did not like the sound of diff, called be back later and he had ordered a new one and replaced under warranty.  I was happy before and happy after.
