" what was found "
« on: March 31, 2011, 08:58:23 AM »
Well I got my solstice back Wednesday . They found that the serpentine belt was jumping on pulley rail causing false misfire codes. They said the same thing I said, How could it. Took them almost (2)weeks to search and check other things first.  If this is not it I'll make it blow up or something. The GM rep. said they will compensate me for the time I've been without ..WE will see !

I went to google put this in ------> bad serpentine belt cause false misfire code

found Caddy w/misfire  P 0300 all(8)cylinders were misfiring and other cars

Unless the serpentine jumped off and whacked the crank sensor sitting right behind the pulley.  I don't suppose the crank sensor is located there, correct ?  Also, does that mean the crank pulley was bad enough that the belt was misaligned ?

Mind boggling.

The ECM
Unless the serpentine jumped off and whacked the crank sensor sitting right behind the pulley.  I don't suppose the crank sensor is located there, correct ?  Also, does that mean the crank pulley was bad enough that the belt was misaligned ?

Mind boggling.

It is not sensing the actual misfire, but rather the subtle uneven rotation of the crankshaft. Having a belt slapping around could certainly cause the ECM to be fooled.

I don't know how ,they just said it was hitting side of pulley.
