Misleading internet sites
« on: April 19, 2011, 10:57:05 PM »
I am trying to buy a f*cking flywheel. ENDLESS sites show "in stock" status. Well ............. let me tell all THIS. WRONG. There are NO Fidanza flywheels available. Depending on who you talk to, the story is different, According to Fidanza, they are out of stock, and until there are enough B/O's, they will not run more. Spec flywheels are not much better. And according to some that (supposedly) sell all the available brands for LNFs, they trash mouth the brands they DON'T have in stock (or available). This SERIOUSLY sucks. Guess what ?? We have NO recourse.

Fidanzas - N/A
Spec - your guess is as good as mine
ACT - good luck getting the "low down" on THAT brand.
Exedy - nothing for LNFs.

Me? P!ssed.

os giken makes clutches/flywheels in addition to their famous LSD's.  i'd get in touch with alex, rich and all the other BSP guys and see if you can't convince them to start making their wares for the LNF.  it would be killer if they did!!

Pret
Not sure if this helps

Pretty sure they drop ship, and Fidanza has none, with no plans to build more until they have more orders. But I will check with them. Thanks.

Yup - no Fidanzas since they drop shop. They cut me a bit of a break on a Spec SC40A (Spec's LAST one) so that is coming.

No. As I stated, I actually DID order a Spec. Of course, that was the only choice. That said, if I was worried about Spec, I would not have bought a 3+ and ordered a flywheel.

are you having issues finding a spec FW?  did you contact SPEC directly?

they sent me clutch kit and FW last Monday.  Nobody told me that they're running low with supply?

anyways, I think you missed  Clutchmasters on your list.

Even though they don't have it listed on their website.   They'll be able to send you a stage 1-5 clutch kit.  Talked to them last year about this.

so more or less Spec is the only place for us to go. Let us know how it feels once installed. Looking at Specs site they seem to be a bit pricey. I assume u got both the flywheel and the clutch

I did call around to see who has what. EVERYONE I spoke with said they "would ship tomorrow". The first two places that I ordered Fidanzas called the next day to cancel the order, even after both said they had them in stock (I guess assuming that Fidanza had them). Then I called Fidanza and was told they were out, and would not do another run until there were sufficient orders. After an above link to an e-bay auction was posted, I contacted Ultra Rev who confirmed a) the Fidanza were out of stock, and b) Spec had ONE SC40A left. One seller was pumping ACT (or something like that), but I was told by another that there were stack height problems and they were not going to sell them anymore. The clutch seems to be obtainable, but the flywheel is the challenge.

The "take away" from this ?? CALL the vendor and CONFIRM their ability to fill the order. And by ALL means, stay away from  autopartsdealer.com. Liars.

Of course, there are no news flashes here. Just sharing. Now for the really FUN part -- installing these things !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is ZERO chance I will pull the car apart until I have the parts in hand and KNOW they are correct !!!!!!!!!!
