Hey all,
i wanted to introduce myself before starting to ask many funny questions regarding my project.  :D

I'm from south germany - close to Stuttgart - and got an Opel GT in 2008. I saw the car and fall in Love with it within a sec.  :)
I'm pretty active in the Opel-GT-Forum and maybe some of the greek fellas in here might know me from there.

So far i made some mods to the car:
  • KW V3 suspension
  • ATS X-Treme rims 9x20
  • Magnaflow exhaust
  • K-Sport 356mm brakes on front, 330mm on rear
  • EDS intercooler
  • EDS software tune to 335 hp
  • some more mods which i already forgot

Now i wanted to take the next step and make some more serious modifications for more horse power.

I found this forum and read a while and must really say:  :urock:

Haven't found anything like this in the www with so much profound knowledge and excellent ideas!

Looking forward to learn more and hopefully sooner or later also to be able to help.

Tom

Willkommen!!!

Can you explain your rear brake set up? Do you keep the handbrake cable?

I am messed with a pair of front boxster calipers to fit on the rear axle with the stock front rotors.
Solo + Magnaflow 3" exhaust
OZ Ultraleggera 19"
Rotora 4p front
Brembo 4p rear
LV Brace

Hey Kuprito,
i got no pics of it but one of the GT Forum members made some good ones.

Take a look at: "Eurospeeds HT-car site"

scroll down or find the text: "Umbau Bremse hinten"

As you will see the cable is still in use and it pulls the 2 brake pads to "block" the disc. It's not a highly sophisticated solution but it works.  :D

With the 356/330 brake conversion kit, breaking becomes a new experience  Especially on the track it's worth every cent.

Thanks!

my plans for a 400-450 hp mod:
  • Garret manifold - ordered
  • Borg Warner EFR 6758
  • downpipe with cat - not found yet
  • SPEC stage 3+ clutch

Anything else you could recommend?
Any ideas where to get a down-pipe with the cat in order to get rid of the bottle neck as much as possible?

Thank you all!

Does the suspension affect the brakes? Is there a need for bigger rear breaks when the front are big? I have a brembo 4piston junior kit in front (328x28). If you consider that I need and a rear brake upgrade are there any ideas? Of course there is a need for the handbrake (sorry if I am offtopic) :sorry:

1. Does the suspension affect the brakes?
2. Is there a need for bigger rear breaks when the front are big?

I have a brembo 4piston junior kit in front (328x28).
3. If you consider that I need and a rear brake upgrade are there any ideas? Of course there is a need for the handbrake (sorry if I am offtopic) :sorry:

1. Wouldn't say that it affects the brake but a harder setting on the front makes handling much easier while/after hard braking.

2. In the beginning i had the bigger brake just on the front. In combination with the original rear brake dimension this felt a bit weird. Especially on track days it was a very unbalanced braking which caused that the rear was way too unstable in hard braking.

3. I'd consider a rear brake disc of app. 300mm with 4 pistons. Makes it more balanced.

Another important item are the tyres. In europe i'd recommend the Hankook's.

I use the falken fk452 and i am very happy with them! I am thinking of a two piston rear brake but are there any rear brakes for the kappa?

:agree: for every day driving.

@Gregory
sorry for the misleading, I'm almost every 2 weeks on the track (Hockenheim is 15mi(25km) away from where i live). With the original brakes i had fading after 1 lap - it was impossible to have more than 1 fast lap in a row.

@all
thank you for the welcome
