7 inch tablet mount
« on: May 10, 2011, 10:01:20 AM »
Can anyone recommend a mount for a 7 inch tablet?  I suppose a suction cup mount would even work, but I was looking more for a permanent stalk or something to attach a Dell Streak 7 to and use for navigation, etc.  I have a small Garmin unit mounted above the right knee near the ignition that hides behind the steering wheel and talks to me, but I was looking for something larger and that I could pull out and locate somewhere more visible.

Try this: http://www.alibaba.com/showroom/tablet-car-mount.html

There were a bunch here:)
afaik, alibaba is a sourcing site for wholesalers and OEM manufacturers. you will find MOQ form alibaba.
we use it in the company i work for, to scout chinese manufacturers for various products.
best would be to visit a local shop. they will have a tablet mount.

support your local shop, not the chinese economy...at least not directly :)

HA good call...just throwing up a link with some pictures of ideas.  I am sure those mounts can be found elsewhere, but at least they'll have an idea of what will work.

Hi!  I did a mount for my TomTom GPS.  I took a 1/4" aluminum rod and bent one end in a tight circle and flattened it to go under the left front seat mounting nut.  Then with a couple bends it came up next to the console passenger grab handle.  I flattened that end too and drilled holes to mount the TomTom bracket.  It is very secure and easy for both of us to see and the TomTom slips off its bracket to be stored out of sight.  The aluminum rod was easy to work with tools around the house.  I painted it flat black so it is not visible unless you are very close to it.  I have no pictures (it's invisible, right?), but I can take it out in a minute if you want a picture.
