--- Quote from: dengel on June 20, 2011, 04:58:04 PM ---One thing that I noticed is that folks were doing a crappy job of separating the trash and recyclables into the appropriate trash containers. I know not all states/towns require recycling, but Joe and Dee were making an obvious effort at first to keep the glass, cans and plastic separate so it obviously meant something to them, whether or not it is required by law where they are. By day 2 or 3 they had simply given up on trying to keep everything separate because noone was placing the trash in the right containers. I will try next year to remember to make some very obvious signs for the trash containers, but if everyone were to make a conscious effort to recycle, I'm sure it would be a great help to Joe and Dee. --- End quote --- No offense, but on Saturday when I was there the containers were not very well marked. You kind of had to guess what went where. Better markings would help, as well as people paying attention. IMHO 90% of this stuff is simple common courtesy, and should not have to be spelled out. This is not rocket science here. Joe and family did a great job, a few were simply taking advantage of everything, and the majority were productive and helpful. Making a million rules will take the spontaneity out of it, as well as the fun. Jim  |

The writting seemed to wear off over time, and probably wasn't very legible by the time you arrived on Saturday. That is why next year I will try and remember to bring some signage made out of something relatively sturdy that could hopefully be attached to or near the cans to better help direct people. And this is not a dig at you, but the fact that people have noticed the lack of common courtesy inherent in a number of the attendees and the undue stress it put on Joe and Dee seems to indicate to me that for some folks at least, it does need to be spelled out, and with clear and specific rules and instructions. |

Last year the recycle bins were in one spot, they started out that way on Friday, but then grew legs and move to all the corners of the tent. |

I'll try and make something up that can get attached to each can. |
