Last rub yesterday, grabbed second gear, and the car "nosed over". And after about 15 seconds of no boost the CEL light came on. And here is the laundry list in the order it was shown on the Trifecta software.

P2090      B Camshaft Position Actuator Control Circuit Low (Bank 1)
P0013      “B” camshaft position – actuator circuit (bank1)
P2088      A Camshaft Position Actuator Control Circuit Low (Bank 1)
P0010      “A” camshaft position actuator circuit  (bank 1)
P0245      Turbo waste gate solenoid A low
P0243      Turbo waste gate solenoid A malfunction
P0034      Turbo bypass control circuit
P0033      Turbo bypass control circuit low

Ick.

Ummm ---- as a renowned diagnostician once told a customer --

"we have checked out your problems and come to the conclusion that your shit's junk !!!!!!!!!"

E-mails send to DDM and Vince. In the meanwhile, I have to retrieve the SCCA stuff from the event site and lay low after 2 12 hour days in 85-96 conditions. This PM I may drive the car into the shop and stare under the hood for a while. I have bee suspecting that something on the turbo has just not felt "right" and half the codes are for turbo stuff. Going to try to borrow an up to date Snap-on scanner from my dealer friend and see if I can get some detailed info.

Crazy

Time to hit google and see how that might tie together and maybe link to a single item failing.

most likly its one thing that caused the othere codes for example B” camshaft position – actuator circuit (bank1) caused the turbo codes. youll have to clear them and see if you can get it to throw another code and hopfully there are only one or two codes it throws next that are in common with what you have now then start finding the problem circut

Sounds like a electrical problem, ground break off or loose?  Did you mess with the grounds changing the clutch?

I think DBG maybe on to something, that is the first thing I thought of as well, as every code is for an electronic sensor.

I'd also check the #1 o2 sensor, when mine went, it caused bizarre codes all over the place, I knew it was the o2, but dealer spent days trying to get the codes cleared, once they did what I told them to do, everything else was fine.

Engine is not making any noises. Cleared codes at the trailer and drove the car. No more than 5 psi boost. ALL the codes in sort of inter linked and it may have been a cascade of codes. Dominoes. Car has been running "properly" since the clutch transplant, so the battery ground does not sound likely, but during a "visual", that will be checked.

Arabas, thanks for the links, and yes I do. Before you as, it is not in contact with any electrical things, but that is on the "visual" list as well.

I guess, he is just not pushing the car hard, and just currently driving slow....that's why he just limits the boost to 5psi.

but i may be wrong.

@ DBG - no hoes in MY life !!!!!!!!!! Serious, no. But the hose TO the intercooler is pushed back some. First item seen on the "visual".

@ 888, Yup, wrong.  :slap:  ;) Actually, in Comp mode, there is still no power on very low boost. Started the car on the trailer this AM and all the codes popped up again at idle.

@ Arabas - took a look under the brace, and there is evidence that the engine has rocked enough to contact one of the wires on one of the two cam position sensors. No exposed wires, but the brace will come off to slice the jacket of that wire and look inside. Also, will notch the brace for clearance. Will be calling Dave at DDM for any known history.

@ Aspenrose - the first 4 codes on the list include BOTH A and B sensors.

More to follow.

That WILL happen, and after another quick drive, may reflash it. BUT, there MUST be a cause, and THAT is what I want to find.

SOB,
Aren't those solenoids /actuators controlled by vacuum?  Could be nothing more than a busted vac line?

They are electronically controlled by a lot of things, rpm, throttle possition, and who knows what else. Oil pressure I believe moves them.

And, when I ready about oil being involved, I got SCARED !!!!!! Well, NOT oil. IS 10 amp fuse. Sent an e-mail to Vince. Here is the response -

Hi Bob,

Please check the TURBO (fuse 41, 10A – RED) fuse in the block under the hood.  It supplies +12v to the camshaft position actuators, and, presumably, the turbocharger control solenoids.  I’m going to bet it’s blown.  If it isn’t, some investigation will have to be done to see what the actual issues are, with the power being supplied to these actuators.

- Vince Geglia
Trifecta Performance, Inc.

He was right. Here is what I am SURE happened. I was running low rear tire pressure on a high grip asphalt surface, With hard launches there was some pretty significant axle tramp. Looking under the hood I had seen that the brown/black wire on the intake CMP was showing signs of impact. On my car, there is no more than about 1/2" clearance to the DDM tower brace, and the scuffing was directly below the front edge of the cross piece. Well, both CMPs and the listed turbo sensors are all on fuse 41.

1) I will be attacking the cross piece to add some clearance. This was a prototype unit, so yours may be a bit different.
2) Spoke with Mike at DDM to share the experience as they deserve the feedback if someone has a prototype. I have NO complaint with their product - just the opposite. THEY are GREAT to US, so the least I could do was "give back".
3) BUY A TOWER BRACE. They work. I may be as hard on a Kappa as anyone (and I use hammers the way they are supposed to be used!!) so stuff will happen.

Excellent news, wire probably got pinched enough to short.  I would cover them in something as well and modding the brace.  My tower brace has been modified, then changed then modified again to clear everything on top of the engine and the hood.
