Well,
This is what I wanted to do but it looks like someone beat me to it.

I'm curious if this would melt the paint?

You would have to include some type of shielding around the pipes.  I would be less concerned about your paint and more with either yours or the passengers' legs being burned.  Also, don't forget to take into account the amount of interior noise that would cause being right next to both doors.  Cool....yes, practical...not so much.

If you noticed, they only showed one side of the car there is a reason for this.  If I remember correctly when he did it there was no way to split the pipe to the other side and stay at the front of the car.  I do not think it has a pipe on the other side, so you only have to worry about the passangers leg :)

You can pretend that these cars have V8s in them all you want with the dual exhuast on the LNF engine, but there is no way you can do that if you go outside exhaust.

I have seen them with a totally fake pipe on the other side that does nothing except bolster your illusion of owning a V8 car, but that is pretty pathetic.

This seems like a lot of fuss to accomplish nothing much but possibly burn your leg on an exterior pipe......

I've thought about this, but yeah to do it justice I'm thinking I think it's something you'd only want to do if you had a V8.  Relocate the battery and have part of the exhaust exiting from the front lower fender like on the Cobra.

The only late model cars I can think of with side exhaust was the Viper produced from 1992-2010, and replica Cobra's.  I've never read about any state prohibiting side exhaust.  If they attempted to do it to cars I'm assuming some would be asking that it also be banned from motorcycles too.

Rumor is the next will be released the next Viper will be released this decade, and unless Chrysler/Fiat decide to make it more sophisticated (which is the anthesis of what a Viper has the rep of being) I'm thinking the next Viper will include them since it has become part of what defines a Viper.

Side exhaust is one of those things that sounds cool rolling down the street or highway, but if you happen to get stuck beside them becomes quickly tiresome & obnoxious.

Sol60 has a functioning side pipe exhaust, sounds good to me.

That said, I can't see the video from work, so I am only guessing what you guys are talking about.

Those look great, but the sound gets old real fast.
I test drove a 240Z with a Mopar V8 transplant that had side pipes.
after being in the car for only 10 minutes I was done.
Just too much.

I'll take heat for this, but Harleys are tacky and lame.  Side exhausts fit into this category along with 'mustard and mayonnaise' sidewall tires...

it's for kids who's parents didn't give them enough attention.

I used to think that until I was rear ended 3 times, and Harley owners aren't the only riders who believe loud pipes saves lives, though they've sure become the poster child for the behavior.  Might be true if there's a pack of em, not so much if you're a lone wolf.
