New from New Mexico
« on: June 29, 2011, 01:34:58 AM »
Name is JJ.
I've been ghosting the site for some time now.  Finally decided to join. I'm fairly new to the Kappa platform, but not new to modifying or racing.

My short list of previous':

1995 Eagle Talon Tsi AWD full boltons Hahn super 20g 353 whp 376wtq (sold)
1991 Infinit Q45 JWT's :censor:  394whp 421wtq (stolen)
2005 Cobalt SS/SC (search google for vids for Lithim cobalt ss and thats my baby) 289whp 310wtq too much to list (sold)
2005 Neon Srt4 ACR monkey works modified (Sold)
2008 Saturn Sky Redline Trifecta Tune ???whp ???wtq (current)

I like to run my vehicles here at Sandia Motorsports road course and I fool around on the streets every so often.

Plans for the Sky are suspension, brakes, 2871r, E-85, trifecta street tune with HP tuners dyno tune afterwards and call it a day.

This will be my ongoing project for the next 2 years as the vehicle is my daily.

Welcome.

1)  :ttiwwp:
Preferably with all cars

2) I like your previous cars

3)
trifecta street tune with HP tuners dyno tune afterwards and call it a day.
I don't get this, why you mix the tunes? To pay maximum possible?
Why you don't got HP tuners from the start?

1. some time soon
2. thx
3. Because trifecta still has the best base tune out of the 4 options we have.  HP just came out with updates that will make it comparable with trifecta, but I have yet to meet a tuner that has worked with HP on our cars with the new options.  Easier to go with trifecta and then tweak the tune.

You can't tweak over Trifecta with HPTuners not even now with the new version, except the situation when you buy layered tune from Trifecta, but layered tune now doesn't make sense.

The latest updates of HPTuners doesn't help so much in case of stock turbo because you don't need to tweak the fueling tables cause you don't hit a limitation in case of stock turbo and gas, only with E85.

I know over the Cobalt world Vince is one of the most important tuners but we have ours on Kappa world like: Westers, DDM, werks. Actually the results of Trifecta on LNF Kappas were not impressive at all.

Welcome to the forum.  Vince locks his tunes, HPT can't download them.

Actually the results of Trifecta on LNF Kappas were not impressive at all.

what do you mean by impressive?
correct if i am wrong, but from what i have seen all the tunes for stock turbo and bolt ons are similar in terms of hp and torque.
every tuner adds a little bit of something, like a bitmore boost down low or a bit more high end power, but in general the results are similar.

IMHO he has presented some impressive innovations (needless to name those as i am just his customer and not his marketing manager :) )

as you say, he also offers layers for someone to tweak his own tune through HPT. he has a policy and i understand the reason behind it, no matter if it suits me or not.

i totally agree that there are other well respected tuners, extremely good at what they do, like Westers, DDM, EDS, Podega etc who i respect! i would certainly like to try their tunes, but i found that the Trifecta covered all my needs of a tune plus some more.
5-10 hp more or less is not impressive buddy.
you know what will be impressive??
The dyno you will soon post with your EFR turbo !!!!!
