It is unfortunate that most of these contests require facebook use and descriminates against people who refuse to use those types of pages.

Fawk Facebook.

I'll never hop on that.  It's the biggest reason identity fraud is so high lately.

No, identity fraud is so high because people are stupid.  I promise that you would not get victimized by it Mr Elff because you are a short and bright individual with a sexy car. ;)

Google +, Facebook, Twitter...they all have their places and all very powerful for new movements, companies and viral marketing.  There are major benefits in creating connections and friendships.  Their are also people that take it to a level that is nearly a controlled seizure.  They base their self esteem around those connections.

Gardella Racing is there b/c the social networks are a nearly flawless mechanism through which to connect to people.  Those connections create monetary sustainment through advertising new/current brands, companies, etc and allows them to continue to entertain and provide for us!  It is really the evolution of the forum such as the one we are connecting through now.

That's understood which is why I'm not on it.
I don't trust the rest of the people that are on there to control their views of who their friends/contacts are, conversations etc.
it's bad enough when some idiot includes my email address on the TO: or CC: line in an email that includes people I don't know.
I normally start spamming the crap out of that list to make my point.

I use the non Facebook/twitter technology the way I want to and can control it to the level I want to.   People who I want to have my other information have it.  If I have not spoken to you in ages and you don't have my contact information, there is a reason for that.

From a business point of view, it's debatable on whether or not it helps make the company money.  It is good for updates, if people connect to you.  From that aspect, it's more targeted than a website.

Still hate it
:D

Yes, SHiNY, I did.  Just tried to load it and it would not load, don't know if it's broken or just traffic.  Maybe the link is messed up.

What's twitter?

According to google:
twit·ter/ˈtwitər/
Verb: (of a bird) Give a call consisting of repeated light tremulous sounds.
Noun: A series of short, high-pitched calls or sounds.

I checked the link and it works fine (cut/past from modify post page).  It's the exact URL code that I used on the Solstice forum page and it works fine there? :idk:

Which characters are you referring to Mr Elff?  Hell, I even looked the source code on the page lol.....

The link you posted is
http://"http://www.facebook.com/pages/Ignite-Racing-Fuel/226137315198?sk=wall"

I eliminated the extra http://" at the beginning and the " at the end
Which leaves
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Ignite-Racing-Fuel/226137315198?sk=wall

Exact lift (with * added) from my code:
[*url=http://www.facebook.com/pages/Ignite-Racing-Fuel/226137315198?sk=wall][*IMG]http://www.gardellaracing.com/news/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/A_Summer_Solstice_Image1.jpg[*/img][*/url]

Here's the code the server is showing:
"<a class="highslide" target="_blank" href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/Ignite-Racing-Fuel/226137315198?sk=wall">
<img border="0" alt="http://www.gardellaracing.com/news/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/A_Summer_Solstice_Image1.jpg" src="http://www.gardellaracing.com/news/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/A_Summer_Solstice_Image1.jpg">
[/url]"

Both should work.

:agree: I've never signed up due to the property rights and security issues. Now there's serious contemplation about facebook moving to China. What's next? Oh wait they can't ship us can they?

Oh I mean have you seen this?

Mods, please split this thread.

First post:

Facebook, 1/12 people in the world have it.  It's like the same argument I hear about not using paypal b/c it's not safe.  If it wasn't safe, they wouldn't have upteen million members; both corporate and personal.

It's a bandwagon to be on facebook and it's a bandwagon to flame facebook.  I have friends that have written security software that assess your personal settings and make suggestions...There are million of ways to counter these things.

Seriously, flaming Facebook is just stupid.  If you don't like it, don't use it.

Facebook, 1/12 people in the world have it.
1/12 people in the world are also classified with profound mental retardation to borderline intellectually functioning... your point is?

Seriously, flaming Facebook is just stupid.  If you don't like it, don't use it.
Re-read the thread, no one in flaming facebook, just stating why they choose not to use it and also pointing out that in a world of multiple channels of marketing meant to reach as many people as possible... why are there exclusions?

*edit after re-read* Elff get the hell outta here you facebook hater!

You started this thread, so it must be your fault.

Elff I'm with you, I figure if my friends can't find a way to keep in touch with me outside of facebook then they probably ain't friends I need anyway, F'um.

I didn't see the request to split the thread until someone directed me via a PM.  If you want to address things like this quickly, click the report to moderator and type your request, that way the staff will see it and take action sooner.
