Project - Gwyneth
« on: July 27, 2011, 11:48:42 PM »
Amelia has long been gone and I was having difficulty selling the major components from the wreck. I have since decided to start over. Found a suitable recipient car and should be closing the deal within the next couple of days. Then, it's off to DDM to get all of the work done. I've compiled a list of things to do. Items in black will be handled by DDM and the items in red will be handled by me. Ivy says they'll aim to have it done by the end of October, in time for their open house/ mod meet. Now I just have to cut off my arms, legs, and sacrifice my two children to pay for all of it. Thanks!

One Item from your list ("12.   black convertible top") why not just have it painted black, much less then putting a new one.....?

Paint a soft top?

My thoughts exactly. I'd rather just take the one off of Amelia and put it on Gwyneth. Applying dye or painting the top would be a last resort.

what you could also do is leave the top as it is and store the one from Amelia. when you get bored of the tan one, take it off and put the black one on.
i mean you can always not do all the mods at once to split the cost and also have a constant joy of modding and modding and modding...

uh....no. I've got plenty of other mods I want to do. The tan top with a black racing stripe just won't work, IMO. All the mods listed in red will be done, but not all at once. Trust me, I'll have plenty to do for a while. I just want to get back to where I was before I wrecked Amelia.

personally i don't like the tan top, a black one will be much better, especially with the white body and black accents.
get me the tickets and i will be your "fetch me that tool" person :)

I should clarify that the items under the misc section will probably not be installed by the time of the open house/ mod meet. Right now, I'm even buying the car not having set eyes on it or driving it since I'm in WA and it's in GA. DDM Dave's dad said everything seemed to be ok (a few minor issues). So, I'm taking the risk.

I'll be interested to see how Norm's Hood looks on a white Sky
and
how the rear fascia looks painted black.

Is there a reason you are not getting Norm's front bumper lip?

It looks good, but I like the look of the D5 concept front splitter better.

I don't like them, but the white color looks great. There was a place on the internet that I wanted white wheels from, but I can't find it anymore. Anyway, powdercoating the stock wheels will be less expensive.

Great to almost have you back into the clutches of modded Kappas.

It's good to be coming back!

Yes, I've heard of dye. Still think it's better to swap the tops out. BTW, the Mona Lisa isn't exposed and laying out in the sunlight. Nor does she fold up, get stowed in a trunk, or rained on.

Dave has recommended swapping the whole motor. I expected that. A couple questions: Will the odometer reflect the mileage from the swapped motor or the original motor? Where is that data stored: the ECM?

Mona Lisa - I just throw that in as a joke in my post..
Helos - It would be safe to fold the top because the Mona Lisa was not painted with dye coloring as if you were coloring a cloth but Da Vinci did use Dyed oil........

It was just a comment as to cost effective it would be to paint rather then change the top, that's all.......
BTW - All our T-tops are dyed to its color....  ;)
