Great qualifying, lets see what happens tomorrow. At least this year we have competition on the top, so it could be any of the top 4 teams scoring podiums, with different
drivers on the 1, 2 or 3 position.

I think you are correct LV but time will tell.  Alonso's car sounded like crap.  .3 seconds difference between the top 3 cars.  It will all be up to the start tomorrow.

Yea, and 1 mishap and these cars spin.  Looks like the extra width of the rear tires is causing some drivers to put that into the grass on occasion.  That will get better with time I am sure, but look out for mistakes tomorrow.

Exactly and they are running 280-320 KPH in the turn that is catching everyone out.  There just isn't time to correct.  And how about Pascal "I don't have the conditioning to drive in the race, get someone else".

Is there a new sheriff in town?  Great race.  Turbulence around these new cars is massive.  One driver stated you had to stay +2 seconds back to get clean air.   Last year it was around 1 second.

Ready to discuss when others are.

Pascal did get hurt this past January at the Race of Champions in Miami, or so it was reported.

He stated his back was fine, but his physical conditioning wasn't up to the job.

Yes the pink team did well.  Alonso was holding tenth until his suspension failed and he got passed on both sides.  New colors on a lot of the cars.  I don't know why or who made the call to bring Ham in but it cost him the race.   Ferrari's pit stop (Vettle) was amazing, did he even stop or did they put the tires on as he rolled by?

Hass had a great chance until the cars fail on them. I am also of the opinion but maybe Magnusson(spelling) will prove me wrong, but the driver
he replace was doing better than him at this point last year.

It's only 1 race, so we can't judge Magnusson yet.  If he gets a single point over the entire season, he will have out performed Guttierez.

I wonder if the early pit by Hamilton is showing that their chassis is not as good on tires as the ferrari Chassis, but time will tell if it was just Ham running too hot trying to keep Vettel behind him.

It was a shame for both Haas and McLaren.  Great races up until their failures.    It looks like it will take a couple races for the engineers to add more reliability to the cars after they figure out the weak spots.

Overall I felt the cars were more balanced in speed.  The difference between p1 and p10 was a lot less than last year.  Top 3 were within .3 and top 5 all less than a second difference in lap times.  The big issue this year is going to be passing.  Drivers are saying you have to stay 2 seconds behind to get out of the dirty air.  Last year it was around a second.  That is a huge difference.

I think they will find ways to tweak things to deal with the dirty air and get closer.
The small Tbar win just aft if the driver on some cars is interesting. Looks like a toy, but I'm guessing it's doing something.

They talked a little bit about that T.  At the moment it and the shark fin do not have exact specifications, so they can choose to run without one if they want.  They did say that the T is adding some additional downforce and every lb counts.

If things stay the way they are, strategy, reliability and driver skill will be the race differentiators.  The cars are really that close. I think qualifying on the front row and getting a good jump is going to be more important this year than the past years.

Great race that was made more exciting by the wet start.
I would have been more excited about Verstappen's race if he hadn't whined so much about a car 2+ seconds in front of him.   Riccardo was more affected by Verstappen's Aero.
Magnusson had a great race a just brought home more points in 2 races than the guy he replaced did all last season.  That question was answered and put to rest.

2 World Champions tied for First place.  NOW THAT IS A KILLER START for the season.

Toro Rosso is in 4th so the Red Bulls are doing great.

He is young and impatient. You noticed he did not mentioned it when asked, it was immature of him to whine like that.
Now we have what I been wanting for a while and that is having at least 2 teams if not more that can bring the race to MB.
Alonso is showing great restrain with his comments about his McLaren/Honda car.
Toro Rosso Sians (spelling) drove a great race, even though those soft tires could have been problematic at the start of the race.
Hass is doing better lets hope they can continue doing well.

Alonso is showing how good of a team player he is.
But then again, if I was paid over a million dollars a year to drive an F1 car, I would have Zero complaints even if it was a slow one
