I think Ferrari was just being waaaay over cautious.
They already had 1 driver DNF and did not want to take a chance on the tires not lasting so they called Sainz in and lost 1 place as a result which is way better than no places

I think LeClerc did :censor:  up. Was just a little too hot into that corner.

He was fighting with Perez at the time for second, and finally got the position all the while they were telling him to come in for tires.

On a train from Avignon to Paris. Been a pretty amazing trip. We are in Paris for one day and then begin the long journey home.

Russell gets his 1st pole
RedBull has a horrible qualifying
Max makes a great recovery
Merc does well
Ferrari who knows what is going on there

Did I miss anything?

It was an interesting race.  I did not expect to see the results we had today.  MB, for the first time, in a long time looked really good.  Finishing like that just before the break is going to be a huge moral boost.
RB recovered very well.   Ferrari just seems to miss, but at least they did not DNF.

There was some nice side by side driving and passing.

You know he could still win Merc's employee of the month too.

GJ are you back on this side of the pond or were there issues at customs?

Back and all caught up on races.
Happy to see MB back in the mix
RB clearly the best car in the race
Ferrari needs the break more than anyone.

Customs were a breeze everywhere. Athens- 90 seconds
Italy- 0 seconds
France- 0 seconds
London- 2 minutes
San Diego- 5 minutes and no declarations questions at all. Wait in line for two families ahead of us, then our turn. Stamp stamp- Welcome Home

Easy.

I had a similar experience coming back into the country
but leaving Germany was crazy.  Very glad I got to the Airport 3 hrs early because I needed almost all if it.

Well if anyone ever had any doubts about Red Bull and Verstappen they can stop wondering.   As much of a Hamilton fan as I am, I think he should have gotten a penalty.  I'm guessing because the usual penalty is 5 seconds and he was already last in the race there was no need.

No need for a 5 second penalty when he ends up DNF.

My thoughts exactly.  But they could have given him grid spots in the next race.

Next race is this weekend by the way, set the betamax.

I think the only thing that saved Hamilton from a penalty is that Alonso finished the race in 5th.

Ferrari was deja vu.   Pit LeClerc and lose a place.  WTF???
I get the speeding in the pits.  His sensor fried due to the tear away.  I kind of feel that penalty was a little lame but rules are rules

Verstappen is definitely in a league of his own at the moment.  But, I am happy to see Checo spreading the gap between second and third place.   He is still doing everything and more that Red Bull wanted from him.  Because of that, Red Bull has a healthy lead in the constructors.

Gasly ended up having a pretty good result after starting from the Pit Lane.

Overall it was a fun race to watch.  Seeing 4 cars side by at one point was kind of Cray Cray.
