Check your Betamax, mine was recording the race at 7:30 pm on ESPN4.  The race is actually on at 2 pm on ABC.

Interesting grid, I don't think anyone could have predicted it.

Just watched qualifying
Hamilton didn't get out of Q2
Verstappen starting from 9th
LeClerc crashed again
Perez on Pole

If he wins, he would take over the Driver Championship

Well as you know I am not a Max fan, but he proved that the RedBull is a superior car.  The other option is that he is just that good of a driver.

Well I finally got to watch what was on the DVR.  I hate when the races are on network TV!  My local station felt the need to interrupt the race to cover a thunderstorm for about 50 min.  Prior to that they had their weather graphics placed over the leader board and times.  I actually have no idea how many laps I got to see before they interrupted things.  This seems to happen whenever the race is on the local station.

Unfortunately the interruption didn't keep me from seeing Danica's contributions.

When they are local I also set the betamax to record the evening version on ESPN just for that reason.

Well oddly enough it was on my DVR to record and my DVR decided to cancel it because it was already on my playlist.

I feel like the only reason Verstappen beat Perez was the order of the Tires.
The track got better and with less fuel, Verstappen's order was slightly better.

That aside, Perez, once again drove a great race and seems to be the only legitimate challenge to Verstappen as both Red Bull cars are on a different level than the rest of the car.

Alsonso, in a good car this year, has really showed how good of a driver he is.  He is above both Ferrari and both MB drivers in the standings.
Pretty amazing.

Seems like we all missed the last race because of weather too!

Maybe they should have done a F1 boat race last weekend?

Monaco this weekend.   My Betamax pick 10 pm Sunday night to record the race on ESPN.  It is on at 7:30 am on ABC.

Interesting note:  Aston Martin is going with a Honda Engine in 2026.  Wonder if it will be the same engine in the Red Bull?

Well the rain made the last laps interesting.  Alanzo has been driving his butt off this season.

The rain made on otherwise predictable race a little more interesting but not much actual racing going on.  I wonder what would have happened had Aloso went to the intermediates first.

The announcers said that Red Bull still had him covered.   He would have needed to switch to the inters first and Red Bull stay on slicks for there to be a difference.

But still,  2nd place.  Alonso is crushing it this season.

I guess there was some controversy with Russell that only came out after the race was over.  It had to do with how he got the 5 sec penalty which they really didn't explain well during the race.

Didn't Russell get that 5 second penalty for pulling out into traffic and getting broadsided?  Pulled out in front of Perez who t-boned him.  I was surprised they both continued on and finished the race.

I am not sure what happened because he had to go into the run off for a turn and there was already one driver in the run off.  He then re-entered the track and the issues was because there was traffic that came around the corner that he may not have been able to see.  I don't know all the details but I guess he was in third place prior to going off the track and ended up two places down.  The penalty really didn't amount to much as he finished over 10 sec ahead of the next driver.

I didn't think there was a collision but again they really didn't cover it during the race.

Perez nailed him and lifted him off the ground and you are right he couldn't see him.  You can't turn your head in a hanz (SP) device.

I?m happy to see Merc back up on podium. I like both drivers.
Verstaps car is just brilliant. I wonder if he pushed the whole race f he could have beat HAM by 45-50 seconds.

Merc must be surprised to be in second in constructors.

I'm not so sure he wasn't pushing, he did get warned for exceeding track limits 3 times.  The next time would have been 5 second penalty.
