I am sure 3 other drivers were worried when Webber's car stopped due to it being a similar alternator issue that affected 3 cars in a race in a previous year.

Today was a huge accomplishment for both Red Bull and Vettel.  Pretty awesome to be able to watch history in the making

It's a crazy track and only one straight.
I won't comment on qualifying since you have not seen it yet.

I really do not know what is going on with him, but it sure gives the impression of not been very professional.
He has a contract with Lotus, he needs to finish it.
I hope Ferrari does not regret the decision of bring him over.

Now to the race.
The best part in my mind was the race between the 3rd to 10th place finish.

Looking forward to Austin.
If I was closer to Austin it would make for a great week of racing.

The rumor is Lotus hasn't paid him all year and owes him 10 million Euros.  And I agree the the race was from 3rd to 10th.  I about choked on my drink when they played the radio conversation between Vettel and Rocky after the race.   Dave have you watched it yet?

Part of the beef with Kimi right now is that Lotus has supposedly not paid him.  Speculation is that they owe him the entire 15 Million for this season.

As far as today,  I can also understand how pissed off he must have been.  He qualified 5th, and then, due to nothing he did wrong, he was sent to last place due to his car failing tech inspection.
Then, he gets in a collision which breaks his steering and is done on the first lap.

2 more races and Vettel can tie the all time wins in a row.    One thing that struck me as odd.  If you get Pole.  Why would it be considered advantageous to be on the opposite side of the track for the first turn?  That to me allows the second qualifier to insert his car in your way if you have an equal start and gives them the advantage.

That did not happen, but just something I noticed.
I am still amazed that vetted is winning by 30-60 seconds in some of these races.   He gets such a lead that it allows him to pit an extra time if he needs to.
He is in the freaking zone and his picture should now appear in the dictionary when someone looks up the word consistent.

3 place to 10th was a great battle.  I had to laugh when Masa's advisor came on the radio and told him he made a sweet move.  And it was.   I do think Masa's strategy failed him today and that Alonso switching to soft tires for the last 10 laps was a good idea.  He was smoking people due to that.

2014 I will have to look at the Race in NJ.   That's super close

I must have been typing while you replied.
:D

I have not watched F1 yet.  I gotta here the radio conversation.

I thought it was funny how he still did a donut but then drove it to the winner area and was like
"They should be OK with that"
hahahaha

If you are a professional driver you do not take those issues to the track.
For those issues you have your manager or yourself do the talking behind close doors.

10-15 million and not being payed for the entire year, I think I would bring my issues, manager, and lawyers to the track

Totally agree. Anyone try going 6 months without getting paid, yet still showing up every day for work. It's amazing he's done this much. He is working purely for his future.

Actually a couple drivers in F1 pay for their seats with sponsorships.

Pastor Maldonado is one of them.

The problem with this discussion is we really do not know anything.
All is based on rumors.
I still say the track is not the place to do it.

I don't think Kimi has taken it to the track yet.

This past race he just had a bad weekend.  He qualified very well, but got hosed either due to car damage or Lotus not setting up something properly.  Then more bad luck that tight traffic caused him to have his steering break in a collision.
Compare this one weekend to 3 weeks in a row for Webber.   It was nice seeing Webber podium after having his car break down so many times in a row this year.

If he shows up in Austin, then I will guarantee he will show up in Brazil.
As cold as he is, I think he truly enjoys driving and I can't see him boycotting a race.

Elff.
We just have to wait and see what he does next.
All I can say it will be interesting next year at Ferrari with Alonso and Kimi.

I have faith in Kimi being a professional and we will see him in Austin.

I would not be surprised to see Kimi being the #1 driver for Ferrari next year.

I just saw that McLaren signed Kevin Magnussen as the second driver for 2014 and opted not to keep Perez.

Additional big news is that Kimi will be under going surgery on his back and not race in TX or Brazil.
Heikki Kovalainen will fill the gap.
Unsure if he will be their 2014 second driver, but the way Grosjean has been driving, I would think he is the #1 driver next year.

Masa goes to Williams.   I think Masa should have been picked up by a better team.  Maybe Williams can do better in 2014.  It amazes me that a team that used to dominate F1 is now in the back as consistently like they have been.

Busy F1 week!!!
and TX this weekend.

This race could put vettel into second place for most wins in a row.
