With the penalties to Redbull for hardware changes, the front 2 rows are quite interesting.

Exactly, if you want to see q2 and q3, qualifying is being re-broadcast at either 1 or 1:30 am Sunday morning.  Even tho I know the results I have set my vcr to record it.  According to the write up it should be well worth watching.

I hope your VCR can convert rugby to auto racing.  I have it on now and its not what I was expecting.  NBCSN says the programing is F1 qualifying but the announcers are calling a rugby match and they are right it's rugby.

I hope they don't F'up the race too.

Well, it was a pleasant race with little drama.  Riccardo gets my vote for driver of the day with his teammate not far behind in my voting.

Team Pink did everything they could to keep the two teammates apart from each other.  As soon as they got close, they brought a car in the pits.  Ocon needs some improvement to keep up with the big boys.  I'd like to see Force India make a big move this offseason to go all in and grab someone like Verstappen or Alonso and jettison Perez.  They will need a few improvements in the car as well, but truth be told, they don't seem too far away from Red Bull for 3rd.  I don't know if they can spend the money to get to Ferrari or Mercedes.

The post post interview with Riccardo is great for no other reason than he is such a happy guy.  I like him a lot.  I think he would be a blast to hang out with.  Kudos to Bottas as well.  He could be a #1 driver for all but 2 teams, but plays his role to perfection.

May the Schwartz be wit you

Team Pink should get a good infusion of money from their standing as a 4th place team, that said I do not see them gaining any more ground on 2018.
We should in the next month or so get some news on some of the drivers and teams, specially Alonso and Ves.
Ferrari did not look good this go around, also not sure what Vettel comments about having an issue towards the end are believable.
If they do not get their cars to perform as good or better than MB they will just continue to be either 2nd, or 3rd best.
The young drivers did very well and hopefully they will remain doing well now and in the future.

Some really good wheel to wheel driving today on some tight turns.  A couple of bumps, but I think they were racing incidents in that one S turn and nothing more.  Verstappen may have given Magnussum a push wide for the block attempt, but we will never know.

I swear, I thought Ricciardo might steal another podium.  Damn that boy can drive and sure makes some exciting passes.  GJ you are dead on with him.  He just flat out loves what he does.  I think Redbull is closer to competing with MB than Ferrari at this point.   If Redbull qualified better, [Which really wasn't possible due to their engine and drivetrain swaps]  I think both of them would have been in front of Ferrari at the end of the race.

What was also nice to see was both Williams cars put in a nice performance.  Stroll is turning into a good consistent driver.

Hamilton and Bottas did what they both do.  They take a great car and drive it to perfection.  They were simply unstoppable.  I loved Bottas one radio transmission.  Basically Im good, leave me out for at least another 10 laps.  LOL.
That must have been demoralizing for Ferrari.
Has Bottas been signed for next year?  They really need to lock him in.

No my vcr couldn't convert rugby to f1 damn it.  It appears it was on just before the pre-race show.  Oh well US fans don't need to about the exciting parts.  So riddle me this:   Perez qualified 11th, got a 5 spot penalty and started in 10th.  How the hell does that happen?  All in all I thought it was a great race, good racing everywhere except up front, where there is seldom any racing.  The young guns did fairly well up front, they were not swallowed at the start and Ocon's start was a thing of beauty.  Lewis was worried enough about Lance to move over and block him.

The only way it would have been better is for Riccardo to have passed Vettel.

There were so many other penalties that it completely jumbled the starting grid.

The MBCSN announcers have commented on the ridiculous penalties impose to the car and driver that it is really against what the
nature of the sport is all about. The driver does his job and because some mechanical malfunction etc its penalize by having those stupid
grid penalties.
The outcome of the race would be so much different if these grid penalties would go away, is not the drivers fault.
Take points away from the constructors championship which penalizes the team and not the driver, just a thought.

I think they are in place to keep the teams with more money from replacing stuff all the time, but I think it can be handled in a different better way.

I saw that on my DVR last night.

Bottas was just signed for a one year extension to Mercedes.

I wonder why they are only going 1 yr at a time?

That's not unusual for most drivers.  That's a good signing.
I am still curious on Alonso.  I just don't see him staying at McLaren.  I am thinking he will jump to Indy Car

Who are they going with?

I wonder if that is a result of the lack of reliability of Verstappen vs the Performance, because half the time RedBull seems very competitive

McClaren get Renault
Mercedes still has the best car
Ferrari still has the best driver
Ricardo still has the best attitude.

Yes for the most part, but personally think that Ricardo not only is has the best attitude, but also a better driver than Vettel.   :2c:

Kimi would have beaten Vettel numerous times this season if not for Team orders.

Ricciardo is the master of opportunity.  One mistake by anyone and he ends up on the Podium.   With how good Redbull is at Singapore, I am hoping to see him take the win.

That sure was a lot of news.
Did Redbull stay with Renault?
