Absolutely, Max deserves the win, I tip my hat to the FIA for doing the right thing for the fans, thank you.
I also think that Hamilton and all the drivers behave very professionally after the race.
P?rez did a great job it was to bad the car had to be retired, he deserve the 3rd place podium.
Great over all season, can wait for the 2022 to start since everything will be different and a fresh start.

Not sure what to think of that.  I'm not a Max or Ham fan so I guess I don't really care who won.  Just wish the FIA didn't seem so keystone cop-ish.

Why didn't Merc go for a pit?  That's their own fault.

MB filed a double protest based on two different rules that the said were not followed.  The stewards rejected both.  It could still go to civil court.  All that aside, it was a great season.  The last two races were exceptional, it just a shame that FIA decisions were so involved in the outcome of both.

It's like the start of the race with Ham going off track cutting a corner and then coming back but not giving up the position.  FIA said he gave back the advantage but did he?

I have never quite understood the lapped cars can unlap themselves at the end of a yellow rule.  The leaders that have already passed them had to deal with them slowing down the race and then if the race is long enough they will have to do it again?  Why?  Max got like a 14 second gift with the yellow and that unlap rule.

The part I don?t get is why only SOME of the lapped cars got to unlap themselves?  I don?t understand how that is fair?

Exactly, either all lapped cars should have passed or none should have passed.  Only the ones between Max and Ham makes it look like something wasn't on the level.

The Sporting regs for un lapping cars is to make sure they do not interfere with the cars going for the win.
There is room purposely left open to the racing director to do what he did, and the FIA backed that decision.

Furthermore, before this race, the teams were asked specifically about this situation and both Red Bull and MB flat out stated they did not want this race to end under a yellow flag

So Masi gave them exactly what they asked and agreed to, and stayed within the rules.

In that case even more reason MB should have changed tires.

Yup

Basically TOTO should look at himself and his strategist and say
We :censor: ed up

Hamilton asked for tires 3 times and they denied him

The odd part of their strategy being Max's tires were older then Hams so they knew Max was going to want new tires.  And if Max didn't go for the tires after MB made the change they would have still had the advantage because a pit under yellow was about 15 sec so taking the pit would have put Ham and Max about even on the track.

AND if Ham had pitted Max wouldn't have, reversing the tire situation and their position on the track.  Ham would have been chasing Max on old tires.

So F1 is starting back up for the new season.

Looks like the Russian GP is off the schedule no surprise given the current situation.  The bigger question is will Haas be replacing a driver?

Ham is back, can't say I'm surprised there.

At the moment Haas has removed all the Russian livery and running a basic white car.   There is a driver in the wings if they decide spinsalot won't be driving.

Megaspin's father's cash maybe pretty frozen by some of the sanctions right now.  Money talks, why else would an American owned team have a Russian driver and sponsor?  Haas yanked the Russian sponsor off the car to avoid the backlash that it would generate.

I read an article today about how Andretti has been trying to buy Haas out.  Time will tell.  Andretti wants an American driver on that American team to help build an American F1 fan base.

Quote from: Motorsport.com
The American?s Andretti Global operation has applied to enter F1, and needs to get a green light soon if it is going to have enough time to get things up and running.

Although there is no formal timeline for new entry deadlines in to F1, Andretti is clear he cannot wait much longer for the FIA to make a decision.

Speaking exclusively to Motorsport.com about the situation, Andretti said: ?We need it fast because the clock?s running for us to be there in 2024. We need to know within a month.?

Andretti says he is already quite clear in some key details about his F1 entry, with him committed to bringing his IndyCar driver Colton Herta to grand prix racing.

Andretti believes Herta?s presence would be one of the keys to making the team?s presence a success for F1 as a whole, at a time when there are two races in America ? at COTA and new-for-2022 Miami ? and a third is being planned for Las Vegas.

He suggested that the way Max Verstappen has boosted Dutch interest in grand prix racing proves that an American driver could do the same for the potential audience in the USA.

?You look at the growth in ratings in the Netherlands because they?ve got a driver,? he said. ?There?s none here. If you get a good driver with a good following like Colton, I think they?ll be in great shape.

?To me it?s a no-brainer. I don?t know what the hold-up is, so hopefully they figure it out. The way we?re going to do it is going to be first class all the way. We?ve got big plans that will really be good for Formula 1.

?My backers are great, they?re in it to be competitive, they?re not just in it to say they?re in Formula 1. They?re sports guys, they?ve turned sports franchises around from where they weren?t competitive to then being competitive, so they know how to do this stuff.

ANDRETTI HAS BEEN TRYING TO BUY HAAS F1 TEAM FOR TWO YEARS

Aramco Web Black Text V2

Michael Andretti says he has made ?millions? of attempts to purchase the Haas Formula 1 team and is still open to talks with owner Gene Haas but senses his compatriot is not interested.

The Andretti operation has launched a fresh bid to get into F1 with an all-new team for 2024, after its attempt to take over the currently Alfa Romeo-branded Sauber squad last year fell through.

Andretti?s new plan was initially revealed by his F1 world champion father Mario last week, before being confirmed by the wider Andretti team.

FIA not in position to consider new F1 teams amid Andretti bid
 Read more
But the FIA has made clear there is no entry process for new F1 teams open at present and says it?s ?not in a position to consider? new entrants.

Undeterred, the Andrettis have continued publicising their latest F1 proposal.

In an interview with the Associated Press in which he emphasised the seriousness of the Andretti Global F1 plan, Michael Andretti also referred to having approached Haas ?millions of times?.

Team owner Gene Haas had previously expressed doubts about his F1 squad?s long-term future and had been reluctant to continue funding it through his own companies.

That led to an initial shortlived title sponsorship deal with Rich Energy in 2019, and then the association with Uralkali backing that has now been complicated by Russia?s invasion of Ukraine.

Megaspin is out of a ride.  Haas hasn't yet said who their new driver will be.  Assuming they find a new sponsor, they could be a much better team this year.

Probably:

Pietro Fittipaldi
Pietro Fittipaldi, the grandson of two-time F1 champion Emerson Fittipaldi, is the reserve driver for Haas. He competed in two races for Haas in 2020 as the replacement for injured driver Romain Grosjean. The 25-year-old was born in Miami and holds dual citizenship in Brazil and the United States.

Magnussen is back at Haas. Mazepin is saying he found out Haas cut him through a press release and had no advance notice.  His father said that the sponsorship money had already been transferred to the team and now wants it back.

From a business perspective, that?s a pretty reasonable request.  In reality, if they refund it now, it may just be sanctioned anyway. He would be smart to say- keep it, and use it for the 2024 season sponsorship and hope things have improved by then.
