Coolant bleed procedure
« on: August 01, 2011, 04:32:12 PM »
We decided to make another video of the coolant bleed procedure that we use here which is taken from the GM tech manual. Let us know if you have any other questions or suggestions for other videos.

I was amazed there was not more techno raging in the background. Either way this video will help tons of people who get air pockets in their coolant system :)

Thanks for the vid, it sure beats the jacking the car up on the driver side method that I read about.  I recently posted your DDMworks-EVAP Solenoid Testing and Replacement Video under the Problems and Service Sub-forum.  I didn't think to post it in the DDM Vendor forum.

How about a video on how to properly drain the coolant. My 5 year 100,000 runs out in November. And so does the coolant life. The dealer wants $100.00 to change it. I want to do it myself.

Trust me, it's not that involved.  If you've done one, you've done 'em all.  I installed the 2 check valves, and changed my coolant in under an hour.

And personally, I would never even get close to 5 years/100,000 on dexcool.  Cheap insurance to change it out early.

Hole crap, I just realized that I'm due for a change soon. Still have the check valves waiting to go in.   :gaah:

After watching the video, I have some questions.  :banghead:
1. Is the procedure different if you have the 'check valves' installed?
2. I am going to change out the coolant in my 2.0L coupe.  Do I need to flush with tap water?  Or do I just drain and refill with new 50/50 Dexcool?

 :drive:

It should not be any different but the check valves might make it easier to do.

Doesn't matter if the check valves are installed. If you are going to flush it, you can use tap water to do it and you do not have to use Dexcool when refilling. We use non-Dexcool here when filling back up cooling systems.
