Jack Pad - RockAuto.com Part # : 51711960752
« on: August 13, 2011, 07:03:13 AM »
I'm listing this part number because I had a hard time finding the jack pad part number on any site.

Below is a link to RockAuto.com where it can be purchased.

Looks like you have to enter a yr and model before it will list the part.

Yeah I bought from them a few years ago shortly after I bought the car. They're still there and work great.

I saw our cars have a spot for these thing at the front and the back of the door. Do these fit on both sides?

They fit on the back and have to be trimmed to fit on the front. Personally if I have to jack the car I just use the back one and the whole side of the car, front wheels and back wheels, come off the ground. I didn't buy them for the front.

Yes, I lightly sanded them and spray painted them orange because I thought that would help techs notice them and know where to place a jack.  Also, about 1/4 has to be trimmed for the front ones to snap in.

I also made several copies of the Kappa jacking points diagram and tape it to the dash for service (and because I'm anal) and highlighted the jacking points so if anyone climbs in the car they can see them.

Or maybe another way of saying it is.  If you're only going to lift one-point of the vehicle it appears you use the jacking pad points, but if the whole vehicle is going to be lifted the lifting point diagram makes it appear that the jacking points are in a different location for a four-point lift pad.   :idk:

I agree with ChopTop.  I put all 4 in on mine.  Never know when you'll have to get the car lifted and it makes for great "anti-crumple" insurance.

I did all 4 on all my GM cars, except for 05 GTO. A little pricey but put them in and forget about them.

I put a set on the rear of mine, and a put a thin bead of RTV around the outside edge of the pad so they wouldn't rattle against the body. They fit a little loose without it.
