My new wheels (fitted on and pics)
« on: September 17, 2011, 03:20:32 PM »
well, i have bought these wheels 18X8.5 offset 45 and weight around 12kg (more or less same as stock), but i haven't put them on yet..

some unexpected expenses came up and i put them for sale.
i m trying to arrange the payment of the unexpected expenses in such a way to keep the wheels...
i will know in a couple of weeks if i am keeping them or not.

i m not posting them for sale on this forum (shipping cost would be so huge, that it would be an unreasonable price for members in another country than Greece)

anyway, what do you think of the wheels?

They do look sharp and although I know that's not your car in that picture, they sure have tires on them with a low sidewall height. Hope you can hold on to them.

Naw, cleaning won't be a problem, keeping them looking clean will due to the color (paint em silver and they'll look cleaner  longer).  I like, classic mesh wheels rarely go out of style.

i finally got them on the GT...
3 small problems
first is the rings were not thin enough, so they are fitted w/o rings (reaaaaaaally minimum gap). haven't driven in high speeds to see if it affects the steering wheel
second is the lug nuts i got with the wheels would not fit to the kappa, so i got an extra charge for new nuts.
third is the rear caps do not fit, but i will work on it and see how i can make them fit...

sorry fot he iphone quality pics, i will soon get better ones if someone wants that

They look awesome.

So are you saying they don't have the proper size hub centric ring?
Could you get one that fits the rim, but is too big for our hub and then have a machine shop open up the center hole for you? Or do that yourself?

Thx Elff!!!
the hole in the wheel is aaaaaalmost as big as the centric ring of the hub, so the already very thin plastic ring that came with the wheels is too big to fit in.
for the moment i haven't noticed any side effect, but i must drive it on highway speeds to see if everything is OK.
the pics don't do justice to the wheels. they look so much nicer in person. all people in the wheel center (including other customers) were ecstatic about these wheels

Are the wheels truly 5x110 or are they a little off? Only reason Im asking is if they are 5x110, you shouldnt need to worry about the small difference at the hub as the lugs will keep the wheel in place. If say our pattern was 5x115, you can use a 5x114.3. Since its not the same size, a hub centric ring is necessary to keep the wheel centered because the lugs/studs wont do it. Their job now is only to stop the wheel from comming off the car. At least thats my understanding of it all.

Normally lug centric, if the wheels fit are fine.  but it is nice to have the extra bit of strength of the hub centric connection

If the holes are correct, you should not have any issues though

George  , they are Very smart looking Wheels . As long as when you are at hiway speed you get no wheel hop or side snaping of the Steering wheel I think that Plastic ring is for keeping any hormonic noise down.  Best way to check is to get at speed and snap the steering wheel Left to right fast BUT only when there are no cars around you.

Looks like the wheel bore is already meant for the hub.

Did you measure the bore diameter and the hub diameter ?
