leak in the Rear Differential 3RD TIME!!!!
« on: October 02, 2011, 09:09:46 PM »
I have a question, I had the rear seal on the differential  fixed in 2008 as part of the recall, I had to take it back last year (around this time) to have it fixed again. 10,000 miles later it is leaking again. My question is, when is it finally time to just replace the whole rear end? or, do we just keep doing the same fix year after year? Since the fix last fall it has a whine at 35-45kL and then it stops..

.taking it back to DDM on Tuesday to figure out some unusual tire wear on it...we change the tires around every 6,000 miles just to keep the tires wearing evenly but John noticed new wear on the tires this time so,,,back it go's.

if u r still under warranty, u should have them replace the diff, rather than "fix" it again..
uneven tyre wear most commonly comes from bad wheel alignment. i would check this first
DDM Works Backbone and probeam
H&R springs
SOLO HF Cat and Mach Shorty
Dejon Throttle Elbow
Dejon-AEM intake
Front Big Brake upgrade kit with Ferodo pads
Trifecta tune
Custom IC and pipes

I would agree that after two attempts at a fix it's not unreasonable to expect a replacement.
Just trying to do my part...

If it has a whine then something internal is hosed and they should replace it for that if nothing else.

Replacing a Differential (rear end) Seal
Comment by original vid poster:  Replacing a differential seal has to be done right, else the bearings and gears can be damaged. And after the seal is replaced, it's a good idea to investigate the reason it failed.
