WTB: anybody got an old / no longer used iPod?
« on: October 15, 2011, 02:16:03 PM »
Thought I'd check the KP home shopping network before heading out to e or craig.  I am trying to get less fat and get back to being the sexy monster I was in a prior life.  I've been taking the Misses iPod when she isn't using it, but it's time to get my own.

I don't have a preference on type, but small seems better.  If anyone has expericence with one over the other, thats great info too.  I really don't care if there is a bunch of music on it either.  I can listen to just about anything while I run.

Thanks!

How much are you looking to spend and what is the minimum space you would want?
The reason I ask this way is because a new shuffle or Nano might be exactly what you are looking for and can range from $49 2gb shuffle  to $149 for a 16gb Nano

Elff,

I am not looking for anything particular.  I've never had an iPod, so I am not very familiar with them.  I like the idea of clipping a tiny little thing to my had and going out, but there's something to be said for having the device automatically sync with my itunes and my "future" iPhone and the iPad (it is a work phone.  I don't have the option of an Android device.  Just thought I'd get that out there before the whole apple / droid conversation started).  I see a lot of people strapping their iPhone / pod to their arms and running, so that seems to be a good solution if I get a larger device.  But, if I'm going to have an iPhone, I'd guess I would be ok with a tiny little thing to run with (shuffle?)  Also, I am not very active on iTunes, so it might be nice to have an FM radio as part of the device.

Basically, I don't have an answer.  I'm looking to see what's out there and who likes what.

There are a lot of other mp3 players out there for a heck of a lot less than an iPod . I have one that is a 2 mg player and another that is a 35mg player. If you are talking about exercising with it, you probably don't need a large capacity player. Most songs are 3 to 4 min. long. I don't know about you , but about 1 hr is all I am good for, and really only around 5 min. lol Like I have heard many times on these forums..Google is your friend.

I bought a shuffle but got bored of it quickly, I decided the nano was the way to go. I'd you give you the shuffle but I have no idea where it is. I think I gave it to my nephew.

Could you please take it back from your nephew and sent it here for me to try?

Thanks,

Hard to beat DickW's offer but your description to me says Get a Nano
http://www.apple.com/ipodnano/features.html
It syncs with iTunes has an FM radio, Built in accelerometer.

But, with the iPhone, you really don't need another device.  You just need a sleeve to safely hold it on your body.
I less device to deal with and a variety of apps that can help track your workouts

For those that have upgraded their iphones at some point with a new one, you can keep the old iphone and use it just like an ipod touch.  Even better is the iphone has external speakers which the ipod touch doesn't.  So one thing you could do is find someone with an old iphone and use that as an ipod.
