unless its under $500, (block and crank) no I wont.

That's what I thought.  Quit blaming other people.  You clearly state no one will sell you one.  That's a load of crap.  There are plenty of people that will sell you one, including me, you just wont buy it.

Make the right choices now

I thought we were talking about Racer X here...

Yeah Miller goes and Hijacks another thread with his "I can't find a block" problem.

I can't help but feel somewhat responsible because I may have been the one to bring up the issue but it was funny so at least I don't feel bad about it.  Not that I would have felt bad because hijacking threads is sort of my thing.

Sounds like DDM needs to have pistons on their twelve days of Christmas sale. Holy frijoles Alfred! Does this tuner have insurance? Are they trying not to take any responsibility? You already have the new clutch, turbo, etc. Rebuild and improve the insides.
She's an 09 Brazen GXP.

Covered by Norms Fiberglass, DDM, WERKS, KappaSphere, Trifecta performance, Dejon performance, Solo performance, Magnaflow, Hahn, VDI, B&G, ASAP, WindRestrictor, Gravana, JPM, Santana, Madmod, HID pro, Second Skin Audio, mydipkit, Automotivetouchup.com and Smoothline.

To be or not to be hard, that is the question. I prefer my top off and still hard when I need it.

So I'm building it with wiseco 86mm pistons and clevite rod bearings, ARP headstuds- the shop is doing the install for free, buying the upgraded parts though... I'd hate to go back to stock after all this... oooooo and I found out the cylinder walls are all good, I scoped them out myself... all I need a hone job and I'm back on the road! Cross ur fingers folks.

welp, tuner shops says the 3rd cyl is f-ed, the cylinder is now oblong shaped instead of round. so, essentially, the motor is toast! should i rebuild, swap to v8, or 2JZ? lemme know guys!
So cylinder 3 is not oblong and is doing fine?
Personally I would not trust this shop seems like they don't know what they are doing or how to properly diagnose the issue correctly per your last post.   I guess since there doing the install for free that good but I still would not feel comfortable with them doing the job unless I was there watching them all the way that's just me though.

I'd have them pay for you to have the engine repaired at your place of choice
I have no confidence in them at this point

If there the ones Im thinking of Doesn't the block need to be milled in order for those sleeves to be installed??
If his current shop is doing the work is it wise to trust them with more work?

Alfred, if my tuner removes my wideband 02  to tune it, I'll rather tune it myself, since I know my car will be a lot safer.

Like most of the members already stated, that tuner doesn't know what he's doing.

So why would you even trust them to build your engine?

if they build your engine....and a month later you see coolant mixing inside your block.................then who is responsible for that?  you or them?    will they warranty that block if there's any leak?

I will ask that shop to just pay you for a new or used LNF block...and have somebody build my engine instead.   For less headache........and less stress....
I will feel more at ease that way......

Darton sleeves, most of the meat of the block gets cut out for these sleeves to go in since they have a flange on them to close the deck

LA sleeves, which are more or less the same .060" thickness and keeps the cylinder a floating setup

Also Darton does not make a MID sleeve for the LNF/LE5 blocks. The Darton sleeves are for the LSJ/L61 blocks that have a lower floor in the block and they will not work on the LNF/LE5 blocks.

The LA sleeves are basically a stock replacement as Antonio said the wall thickness is .060", which is the same as the stock sleeves.

We have some new sleeves we made us custom that we are testing that are more like the Darton sleeves for the LNF/LE5. Those are the only ones we have experience with.

Define "nuke".  Some think that means the engine block is destroyed while others wonder if it can be saved by having cylinder 3 re-sleeved.  Honing suggest the block is fine but cylinder 3 no longer true (perfectly round).

for me "NUKE" is when a piece of the rod came out of the block......which happened to some LNF owners.
That block is done.

You need a new one.

But I think in Alfred's case....it is not "nuked"....since it will still be salvageable......

I don't think Alfred will sell his block.  He'll rebuild his engine......since his block is still salvageable.

Plus I dont think he'll sell it for less than $500 :)

Alfred, if I were you.....just have that shop ship your block to DDM.

Let the shop pay for the shipping....

and have ddm install their sleeves!  :)

it's a no brainer..........Dave will probably give you a price break for having one of his prototype deals!
