Keeneland Concours Lexington KY 18 July
« on: February 12, 2009, 02:30:39 PM »
The 6th Keeneland Concours is being held on July 18 in Lexington Ky. I plan to attend, and invite any who would like to join me.

For those that do not know, a Concours is a rather formal car show, in which the cars are judged for authenticity, significance, and condition. To participate the car has to be invited, and entries are limited to what the organizers consider to be the top 100 cars in the country. The official website is here: http://www.keenelandconcours.com/ .

Admission is $15 per person and lunch is "on your own" from one of the food vendors on-site. You can also bring your own picnic if you prefer.

The Concours offers "Enthusiast Corrals" for car clubs, but we will be parking in a part of the general parking area reserved for "Cars of Special Interest". The Corrals require an advance commitment that most here are not willing to make.

The schedule is tentative at this point, but will be similar to the one we followed two years ago when I organized an event for the Ohio Valley Kappas. For that event we met in Dry Ridge at 8 AM and drove KY227, arriving at Keeneland at about 9:30 AM. We then left at 4:30 PM and drove back up KY227 to have a light evening meal at the Elk Creek Winery. This year's meeting point and evening destination may change, depending on who plans to come and from where.

The original plan two years ago was to have additional groups originating from the west (Louisville maybe ?) and from the south (Richmond maybe ?) and arriving at Keeneland together. Those groups never got together, but there are more of us around this year, so the possibility exists.

Post if you are interested, if you would prefer to meet somewhere other than Dry Ridge for a run in, if you prefer to meet us at Keeneland, or, especially, if you are interested in leading a group in from wherever you are.
