I've run multiple coilovers in the past from brand name, to lesser known.  If there's one thing I've found, they are not meant for daily drivers that see winter.

YMMV.

I have been running Koni struts (original orange - you can only buy the yellow Sport for the Kappas) on my 88 Fiero for the last 20 years and they haven't even needed resetting.  I hope the BC shocks are half as good.

Let me know what CED says. My shocks are approaching 4 years so if they sell just them, I might snag a set to put on the shelf.

I've run Koni Yellows in the past.  Similar to OE performance in that after about 3 years you'll start to notice a decrease in dampening, and by about the 5th year, you'll be wanting to replace.  On the same car, I put a set of coilovers on that cost about $1200.  The coilovers were fine the first year.  But by the second year I could start to feel a difference, whereas it took almost 3 years with the Koni Yellows to get a similar decrease in dampening.  And by the 3rd year, the car road like crap because of the increase in spring rate over stock, and the worn shock absorbers.

Not sure where you're located, but perhaps my short shock absorber life span could be due to the fact that I'm in Toronto, with potholes, winter conditions, salt, etc.?

Interestingly, from personal experience, I've found that Bilstein shocks tended to last longer then Koni, performed as well, and rode even better.  Which is why i was hoping for basically stock shocks with ~65% dampening increase.

Hopefully I'll be able to source the GMSPO ones, shocks only, for a good price.

Elff, I'll let you know when I hear back from CED.  I inquired about these:

Bilstein Front Shock part number 88965295 Code C388
Bilstein Rear Shock part number 88965296 Code C390

And he had to look into them as the part numbers apparently weren't valid.

Mine are installed. I could tell the difference when I backed out of the shop over the 1" drop. The ONLY reason I will keep the old ones is if they are a) needed for some reason, or b) I ever want to go to DA as they would be donors. After what my co-driver did with my clapped out SA's, it is clear that driver better is better than fancy shocks !!!!!

Just wanted to let you and CED know, still haven't heard back from them since they responded those codes were old, and would look into it.  Not in a particular rush, so don't want to hassle them, but hopefully CED will see this and/or just get back to me.

Any reason you chose b&g's? I'll have my b&g's for sale as soon as i get my new adjustable shocks pieced together.

They are all yours miller.
I already had springs where the rear rates were softer than the fronts and hated them.

That kinda defeats the purpose of buying them.
Also,
Would they even fit that way?  Aren't the Coils different lengths?  What about the overall Mounting point distances?

Depends on whose systems. With my Konis I can use 7 or 8" springs. KWs can NOT swapped. As for other companies, one needs to ask them if a) they have straight wound springs, and b) what length the springs are. BTW, variable rate springs will totally add too many variables into handling setups.

So ............... you want the part numbers to build up your Koni coilovers?   :poke: :poke:

I'll try both B&G and BC first and if all else fails will just order the gmpp kit complete.

Shabby what didn't you like about the B&Gs?

Well i initially bought them just to lower the car and they just worked fine, now im competing in autocross and need to mimic snaponbob's exact setup since it works wonders for him :)

I wouldn't bother with the gmpp kit at all.

I works "well" for me. It worked "wonders" for my co-driver !!!!!!!!!!! Should be better with fresh shocks.
