Supercharger tip
« on: February 23, 2012, 01:05:14 PM »
here's a tip for people who might get a supercharger in the future. Make sure you have a stock ECM when they tune it for the supercharger because if it is not stock it will make the car run terrible once you install the supercharger. Had trifecta tune on my ecm and the supercharger tune and made the car run bad.  :barf:

I had to search Google/GM 2.4 tune to find out if it even could be tuned.  Consensus seems to be GM did a decent job of optimizing the 2.4, and if you wanted any significant gain; supercharge.

ChopTop, the base can be tuned, not much HP gain, but all the nanny controls can be adjusted.  Way back when I actually  had a loss of 1 hp and a gain of 3 lb of torque, which resulted in a .8 second faster quarter mile time.  So it does make a difference.  Oh and I got a lot better gas milage from 28-29 to 31-32 on the highway.

At first I was like "come on .8 from 3# of torque. Your on crack

But then I remembered all the nannies these cars have...   Carry on, I'm just a newb.

The tune also changes where the power might be available, resulting in the difference.

As far as Critter being on crack... Well, I have no comment on that

LOL!!!!  I have enough money left over for the matching shotguns for our exit...... lol

or.... a massive retirement fund to pay someone to wipe our butts!  :)
unlike most of the U.S. I've been building a retirement fund since college, my parents brainwashed me since I was a teenager that social security programs and the money of others should NEVER be counted on....

ROFL
my wife is 11 years younger than me, but I think I'd rather leave my 'wiping' activities to a qualified technician... ;)   I plan on keeping those sort of things a mystery until I'm dead!
