Slow and steady, make sure you get the timing right before you do anything else.

Timing is everything.  If you go before she is ready, she will never let you hear the end of it.  Isn't that right Critter?

UPDATE:

 and exhaust cam sprocket had to be removed .

Remember, the camshaft actuator requires a new "one time use" bolt to be used upon re-installation.  And after torquing to spec, you need to turn an additional 120 degrees, IIRC.

Got thw engine reassembled earlier today with the new DDM pulley CORRECTLY installed. Started the car and took it around the block; runs like a champ. Tomorrow I'll be resuming the supercharger install. Thanks everybody for the help, especially DDM Works.

Good to hear!

Just wait 'til after the install is complete and see if you can keep a straight face while writing about it!

S.P. do you have a Dash hawk, DashDaq, guages or a way of data logging for monitoring things like boost and knkr (knock retard- MOST IMPORTANT!!!)? If not you will need something. Once you get it all together with the SC on take it easy on your first drives to make sure everything is good to go and the ECM has time to settle in. Even though it is tuned it will still continue to "learn" and make adjustments to fuel trims, timing advance/retard etc..  Good luck! keep us posted.

If you have an iPhone, I highly recommend the Dashboss
It can display Knock Retard and Misfires per Cylinder
Then you can setup alerts to have it flash a certain color  when it hits a level
I have mine setup for
Yellow = Knock Retard = 1
Orange = Knock Retard =2
Red = Knock Retard > 3

This way, if that happens it catches my eye.  Fortunately I am not getting any Knock which is how it should be

SP

LISTEN TO JIMMY!

He didn't follow his own advice and promptly blew up his engine, then he caused DBG's water pump to fail.  He knows what he speaks of.  He is now in the (LONNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGG) process of having his engine built to JimmyBaja proof specifications so that he does not run in to future problems.

Speaking of that Jimmy, where the hell is your new engine?  I have been joking about it being ready to pick me up at the airport, but now I am actually getting concerned....  Are you still waiting on some special order pistons or something?  I think I could have carved them out with my teeth by now!

Anyway, a topic for another day....

SP,
glad everything is coming together.  Can't wait to hear the whine ( to be clear, the whine I want to hear is the supercharger, not your passengers...)

Elff: I'll definitely look into the dashboss. Not a fan of pod gauges, so that seems to be a much cleaner solution. Thanks for the tip.

Btw, can anyone with a supercharged sky explain/post a pic of how the two tabs on the intercooler are mounted to the front bumper? The directions (which depict a solstice bumper) isn't helping me much.

diamoney: I'll look into it. I'm not sure my work center will allow it since I've been taking leave quite frequently lately. I'll look at the forecast to see if I can swing it.

I finally got the supercharger fully installed!!! Everything has been running well with the exception of the RPMs dropping to 500 and nearly stalling while coasting to a stop. Apparently the ECM will eventually compensate for this; the sooner the better. I did find a thread from Seal9 where he drilled holes into the from bumper to mount the tabs on the intercooler. I'm thinking I may go the same route and install nut inserts.

When replacing my ECM with the new preflashed one from DDM, I was able to do the security relearn and drove to a local Chevy dealer to have the crank position relearn done. Took them less than an hour and only $37. I've read instances where dealers have charged as much as $100, which is a ripoff honestly.

I've since put 50 miles on the car and am trying to get accustomed to the new behavior of the throttle. The whine kicks in as early as 1500 RPM, so I can hardly drive without attracting attention. I was trying to go for a more stealthy approach, but oh well. Not complaining about the nice burble my exhaust makes on decel now though!

Here's the new issue though: I decided (perhaps foolishly), to do a short sprint to see what the supercharger could do. First gear went smoothly as I shifted at around 3k rpm, then I decided to really dig into and go WOT in second gear. That's when the engine cut out after reaching about 3k RPM and I got a CEL and 'engine disabled' notification on the DIC. Thank fully I was able to limp off the road before the car lost all momentum. At this point I was scared that I somehow managed to blow the engine. After beating myself up about it for a min, I figured I'd give it shot and try restart it; thankfully it did with no immediately discernable issues. I drove home and scanned the car, getting the following codes:

P0606- EMC failure (paraphrasing)
P1516- Engine power reduced

I've read one instance where a member (RevmanII) had the same issue and replacing the ECM solved it. I've sent an email to DDM about this and am hoping to hear back Monday. So that's what's been up with me lately.

Here's a pic. The wire routing is a little messy, but effective:

Glad to see it's getting there!

Even though it's a tried-and-true kit, I would still be extremely reluctant to do any WOT runs without proper monitoring. There are just so many new variables.

Good luck!

FIXED!

I installed a new throttle body yesterday and made three back to back test runs; the engine didn't disable itself once! No CELS or engine codes! Very rarely do I race my car, but it's good to know that when I feel the urge it will now perform the way it should. Not sure if he's on this forum, but a big thank you to Nighttripper for the tip!

Just FYI,

Actually had the P1516/P0606 faults recur several times after replacing the throttle body. I didn't want to post anything else until I was sure I found the root cause of the problem. Finally got around to taking my car to a tuner shop and he immediately noticed that a table dealing with the throttle blade positioning was way off (among other issues with the tune). So, he pretty much built a custom tune from scratch and finally I can say my car runs without issue! What a relief...
