Megara 24 laps race for old sports cars
« on: April 06, 2012, 04:26:22 AM »
i bet Kelu will be happy to hear that i will race one more time, instead of poking him all the time.
there will be a race event for cars made prior to 1984 at a nearby circuit tommorow morning.
starting will be Lemans style, with drivers running to their cars.
every team will have 4 members and each car has to race 6 laps.

i will be attending with my 1979 Opel Manta

since i knew nobody, they put me in a team with 2 Fiat 128 (1.3L) and one Autobianci A112 (0,9L)

i just hope i don't get any worse today, coz i have a flu that is really annoying. yeah, you guessed it right: i am making excuses from now for the bad lap times i will have !
some Porsches, Alfa Romeo, Renault turbos will be there, so i bet it will be lots of fun!!

http://www.sisa.gr/uploads/files/START_LIST_SISA_GRAND_PRIX_20121.pdf

will post pictures after the race

Sounds like a lot of fun. I'm jealous, except for the flu part. May you turn the best lap times of your team. Best wishes and good luck!

all i can say that it was so much fun! the weather was perfect and i had a very good time at the track.
organisation was of medium level (neither good nor bad). i didn't stay untill 17.00 to get any results but i will find out about them probably tommorow.

let's start from the end.
first bet was to cross the finish line without any mechanical failure.

there were so many different cars participating, from these

to these

the track was good, although they made some changes to make it more technical and to avoid very high speeds.
we started running to get in our cars. i started first from my team and finished first, but i don't know any of my times.
on the second lap i got a bit lazy to downshift form 3rd to 2nd gear and i got half a meter of lawn, without any more consequences. that was a good lesson not to get lazy at any time..

looking forward to see my times..

1) Train to run faster
2) Train to put your seat belt faster

Other than that, AWESOME pics and video, thanks for sharing ;)

My best man came to the track and took the pics.
Yeah I laughed my heart out when I saw on video the seat belt fight. It wasn't that funny at that time though :)

out of a total of 84 participations, i got in the 57th place with a total time of 10 mins and 45 sec.

the team i run with came 17th out of 21 teams.
it seems that the team i run with, got the 3rd place in it's category (depending on engine size, category and production year).

my lap times were
1st lap 2:07 (damn seat belt)
2nd lap 1:47 (got a bit out of road on this lap)
3rd lap 1:43
4th lap 1:43
5th lap 1:43
6th lap 1:42

seems like there is consistency in my lap times, which means i have to practice more and to mod brakes, suspension and get an LSD to be able to achieve better lap times next time.
