Tonight I experienced what you are talking about. They are repaving a main road where I live and of course have no signs warning of the road surface height changes
So am doing about 50mph when I hit asphalt that is about 2" taller than the part of the road I was on.
The car definitely bounced up and it was quite un-nerving.
Fortunately that is not something I would run into in a normal circumstance.
It is quite an odd experience for sure.
I have a few bridges on my commute where the bridge approach (approx 5' before the bridge) is about 3-4" lower than the normal road surface. After the approach, the bridge itself is back at the normal road height. Unfortunately those are not areas that are under construction, but that is just how the road is.
The brief drop then return to road height causes the car to come down then spring back up quickly... this causes me to rise from the seat. They do this in ohio to keep cracks from forming, so I hope with the rise in temps that are coming the bridges will expand a bit and take some of the jump out of it.
However I still love the way it turned with the B&G's... so I am 100% on the fence for putting coilovers on my car. I plan to drive with the stock FE3 suspension and see how I like it. If I drive the car less to work, I will probably go with B&G's, however if i keep driving it every day, the stock suspension will probably make more sense.
