Yeah I need too in my area.
In my town there is a a business man that owns 40 Gas stations under different brand names like Phillips 66 and Amoco to name a few.  He also owns a fuel distribution company but all his fuel comes from a Amoco refinery in MO and they do not add E to there top tier fuels and typically do not sell E85 at any of his 40 stations.  There are only two stations of his that I know of and both are Phillips 66 and the E85 states not a Phillips fuel.  I always wondered why when I filled up at one of his stations vs another 66 why I could run more timing on any tune with the fill from other stations and it had to do with the stations mixing about 10E to there 91 which actually the fuel better resistance to KR.
I verified this with the buisness man that this was the case and he stated that he believes that top tier fuels SHOULD NOT contain Ethanol so he does not add to the top tier fuels he sells.  He also stated that most other stations practice adding at least 10% Ethanol to there fuel and it's LEGAL to do so in my State without notifing the Consumer but no more than 10%.

I go to a Shell station and use their 93 octane VPower.  It's supposed to be E Free because it is considered Top Tier.
Its kind of a small station.  I found out about it from some local car guys.
It's been very consistent so I have stuck with it.

It sucks all the stations around here only sell 91 unless your willing to pay $8 a gallon for 102 octane race fuel that is UNLEADED and ALCOHOL FREE.

I used to take 93 octane for granted, but it seems like I am one of the lucky ones that have such easy access to it.

Anyone know the reason why some areas have 93-94 while others just have 91?  It Goes 87,89 & 91 and that's pretty much it around here with E85 only a handful of places.

Guess what. It IS. Depends on where in the country you are. One can count the number of gas stations in the greater KC metro area on one hand that has 92 or 93. In my travels it seems where there are Sunoco it is easier to find stations with greater than 91 octane. Why is it like that? One would need to know somebody in the wholesale gas world to explain it.

Maybe I need to talk to the person who I was referring to in an earlier post and see what he says on why?
The person I had talked to supplies all his stations from the Sugar Creek Refinery in MO.

Just used Google to find some local forums discussing 93. I have been to a bunch of the BP stations that they say have 93 E10 and pure 93, and some are within 10 minutes of my house. If they have it, the pump is invisible. BUT ....... I will look again. That said, IF there is 93 octane (mixed or not) in the KC area, it is scarce.

This is what I could find out about the 100 Octane sold here. It's from Rockett Brand Fuel:

Formula Octane……. 100
Motor Octane………… 96
Research Octane….. 106
Specific Gravity…… .744
RVP…………………… 6.7
Unleaded
Color: Blue

Currently selling for $6.79/gallon. After that the best we have is 91 octane...

Just depends where you live I guess. In Florida I never had a problem finding 93 octane. As far as I know the whole state of Nevada 91 octane is the highest you can get. When we first got here there was one Chevron station that had one pump labeled as 92 but I think it was still 91. Label was changed shortly after we got here.

One would think that E85 availability info would be reasonably accurate. After all, a station has to invest a LOT of cash for the equipment to sell it. And THAT sort of situation is not fleeting.

I want to at least build up the top half of the engine before I attempt that
Im thinking cams, make sure I get the one piece lifters, new valve springs and the proper seals.

I'm real curious to see how 40rty does with his 2871 E47 setup.
