jimmy, what will a built 2.4 put down? I have zero idea what its power output could/would/should be?

Don't know yet, I'm hoping for a little more than what I had (225) but I'm still stage II so I dont expect a large increase. It just means it will handle it & what ever future power I add.

Jimmy, you just had your engine rebuilt.  It cost a lot of time and money.  I understand that you want to now move on a pull some power out of that goodness.
So here is my question?

Do you really want to tune it via a method in which you have no way of seeing your own data logs and changes?

That's what was recommend by Dave, supposed to work really well with the auto trans.  I think I can still use hpt to datalog, just can't change anything. I still have a spare ecm so maybe tune one with Trifecta & one with hpt & see which one is better.  :idk:

You can't view changes trifecta makes.   Sorry, I just don't like being blind with my engine.
I'd be even less inclined if I just dropped all the money and time you did.

You can still datalog with the Trifecta tune in the car, which would be the same as if it was tuned by HPtuners. With Jimmy, he also has an extra ECM which he could choose to do tuning on with HPtuners if he was so inclined also. So in the end it is win/win for Jimmy.

I've heard mixed reviews on that due to some areas trifecta may change that HPT does not view.

Personally, on a Supercharged Kappa, Randy has always done a killer job.  I guess I don't see a reason to go with a non HPT solution that introduces stuff you don't have visibility to.

Also the other reason that I forgot to mention earlier, the VIN/OS combination that Jimmy has is not currently supported by HPtuners. The tune on Jimmy's car was done with LS2edit, which is a great program, but from what I have seen is painful to modify the tables in.

As for the trifecta tunes, we have never had any problems scanning any parameters with HPtuners, I would be interested in what specific problems others have had while trying to scan.

aren't there fuel tables that trifecta unlocked that aren't viewable by HPT?

and weird, I did not know of any Kappa that HPT did not support
Figures it's JB's car.

Explains a lot

The fuel tables that you are talking about are on the Bosch ECM in the 2.0L, the E67's and E37's in the 2.4L's are different.

We have ran into Hptuners not supporting certain VIN/OS combinations now a couple of times, mainly on the 2009 2.4L cars. There have been 2 of them that we could not flash here, although one of those is now supported with the latest update to Hptuners, but Jimmy's car is not one of them, yet ;)

But if you fed them, then they wouldn't feel the need to chew on miller's wires!  :willy:

Good point.  What were you thinking Critter, don't you have some baby birds to be feeding anyway?

Critter why are you still feeding engines?
You know that doesn't work well.

Actually it works fine as long as it's liquids and not solids like say a chunk of a piston.
