So far areas mentioned are the NE, Michigan, Missouri/Northern Arkansas.

MomsSol and I have pretty much ruled out the Dells at this time of year.

All the other areas mentioned have good cohesive groups of enthusiasts capable of pulling off an event.

Let 'er rip, folks.

Guess the rest of us just aren't that important Dave. They are choosing to have the discussion in private it seems...

I don't get it...

If you are on Facebook, leave a message to Mike Guidry or Michele McGlynn requesting to join the group and they'll add you in.

The idea was NOT to start a bunch of different threads here, and if anyone wanted to discuss 2014, do it in this thread.

I didn't realize that the group over on Facebook was a group that required "membership".  Sometimes Facebook is difficult to figure out, even for us "old timers".

We go to Romania (find out that everyone over there is on facebook) and ignore the NAMBLA thing that is going on over here.

Feel free to discuss here, but I understand the issue.  A lot of people have left the forums and are now only using FB.

C'est le vie!

2013 will be in Flagstaff, FWIW.

To far for me to drive from VA.  Guess it is time for the west coast folks to be close.

Guess they have twisties around Flagstaff.  Wouldn't it be fun if there was a route down into the Grand Canyon?

Way to disenfranchise the owner fraternity!

No Facebook here and don't ever want it.

Sometimes I just don't understand the attitude on this forum.

In the first message, I included a link to the Facebook group where this topic is being discussed for those that use Facebook.

I was merely trying to be helpful for those that might want to involve themselves in the discussions that are starting to take place.

FWIW, the discussions that lead to Flagstaff being the site of the 2013 get together, took place on Facebook quite a while ago, with almost no representation from any of the forums.

I thought I'd post the information on the forums in an attempt to be inclusive, not to be divisive.

If you have opinions on the topic, please feel free to voice them here, and I'll be happy to pass them along.

Thanks.

Dave

How do you have a discussion with only one side?
Dave, are you going to post everything that was on Facebook here?

My opinion on the topic is that the discussion should include kappa owners who aren't on Facebook and we should have access to all the information without having to create a Facebook account.

The discussions can happen anywhere.  It's not like there is some governing body that decides where a National event is going to be held.  Heck, there isn't anything from stopping me from deciding San Diego is going to host the 2013 NASSM.  Who is going to tell me no?  If I get it organized, get vendors to show up, and get 250 crazy people to pile in the doors, then I can claim to have hosted NASSM.  If that means nobody goes to Flagstaff, well so be it.  If it means everybody goes from San Diego to Flagstaff and the party continues, well then GREAT!  I am on Facebook, but never heard about the discussions until this was posted here.  I don't really have any intention of going to the FB page.  As for it being membership only, so is this forum.  You could read about some things here, but if you want to voice your opinion, you have to join this forum.  It is no more public or private than FB.  NASSM is all about finding some loco individuals willing to put all the work in (like the small group that organized NASSM 2012).  As for 2014, we really don't need to worry about is as the world will have ended by then anyway.

Make the right choices now

DaveOC, it's not you, well I don't think it is :)

Some are violently opposed to facebook and all the hooks it has, they don't want anything to do with 'big brother'.  That is neither here nor there, while I don't think I will be going to Flagstaff, I would appreciate you passing the information back to the forums.

Thanks, John

There is a huge difference in signing up for a forum, vs Facebook.
There is no targeted advertising against your real name for starters
The forum is secure, unlike Facebook which has been 100% downloaded to servers in China
You can at least view topics here without an account

Facebooks data use and privacy are a joke.
I trust Joe's technically savviness way more than that punk who ripped off someone else idea and then has not been able to secure his site from day 1

Elff, while I agree with your points I think you're shooting the messenger. It was people other than Dave that started the Facebook thread. Dave was the one that stepped up to bring it back to it's roots of the forums and let people know about the discussion. I don't see it that much differently than starting the discussion on one forum and not cross posting. Not everyone belongs to every forum, the only difference is without a Facebook account you can't read the info. If anything interesting occurs I'll let you know.

I see a lot of individuals throwing out locations, but it all comes down to whether or not you have a team of people willing to do the work. Without that any location selected will be useless.

Oh Miller - it's like going to summer camp. You get to go out and play with your friends during the day, party with your friends during the night, escape from reality for just a few days. Sadly you get to go home and back to whatever reality is your world when it's all over.

Sort of, because he posted the information but since he is the only one doing that, I was hoping those concerns would get back to the FB group.
The difference as I already mentioned is even cross posting on forums
EVERYONE can read it.
They have to join to respond, but that doesn't prevent them from at least seeing the information.  FB you get all or nothing.  So the Forum posting is better for complete awareness to all Kappa owners.

But, it is a moot point.  I am not driving to Arizona.

Shiny, you described our Dragon runs.  Driving is the least part of it all.

So, not to enter the broader fracas, Flagstaff is next year and that was decided some time ago. The new discussion is for 2014 and it looks like it is drifting towards the northeast somewhere. It is less voting on where it will be and more seeing where they can rally tue troops to pull something off. If you are interested in helping host something, I would be glad to post that over there for you. NY, PA, and MA have been mentioned.
