T2TR VII - Fall Shenanigans - 10/5-10/7
« on: July 03, 2012, 01:31:09 PM »
Cross Posting for D2 from Everywhere except here:

people are asking............ so here we go

T2TR VII will be held Fri,Sat & Sun Oct 5,6,7
This is both Columbus day weekend and CANADIAN THANKSGIVING
so we run Sunday and travel home Monday.

T2TR = Twisting To The River.  Sometimes it's also Twisting Through the River, but that's only happened twice!

N'Town = Newcomerstown, OH.  Locted off I-77 about 45 minutes or so south of Canton, or about 30 minutes north of I-70.  To give an idea of reference.

N'town Hampton Inn (740-498-9800) has 25 rooms held under NEOKAPPA
at $89.00 (or less) a night...don't delay or you'll end up with a room in the Ghetto instead

Everything else is still in a working state

This year's theme (per Chili) is 80's Rock Stars

Runs will be informal...we have enough runs that we can just meet each morning and form groups (including exploratories)

Dinners will be informal also...no dining out...so no drinking and driving
Usual fare is Pizza one night...BBQ another...and maybe order in from HOG HEAVEN

anyway...we've got 90 days to straighten out this mess.....

So who's coming?

I can't get to the list to post at the moment, but I can tell you, 20 rooms have already been booked and we have about 35 cars on the list...In 4 days time!!!  Heck yeah this is gonna be a good one!!!

Do Not Miss this!  The running will be fantastic...combo of new stuff and old stuff.  Whatever you wanna run, we'll run it!

Party should be fantastic!  We're putting the band back together!  How, I don't know, but we are!
Trying to figure out what to do for foods.  We grilled last year, but that may not work this year.  May have a beer issue this year as well, but we'll get that worked out!

Discussion on FB also for those who would like to lurk or join in on the discussing.  My apologies for those not on there.  I'll post any relevant info.

Sorry if I seem uneducated, but WHERE is this?

Sorry TS, I didn't bother to actually read the Old Short Bald One's post.

It's in Newcomerstown, OH

I will modimify the original!

Critter, did you click your own link

Yup DBG....there will definitely be a slow mo group!  This is whatever you wanna do...we're gonna do it!  You wanna cruise, we have some people gonna cruise.  You want to run around and check out some new stuff, we're gonna do that too.  No clue what we'll get with that, but we might find something good!

You all know Saturday night is 80's Rock Night.  Appropriate Attire is requested.  Those not in appropriate attire may be forced to use the Ghetto Entrance (party room window).  And we are serious about that.  Pizza usually delivered through the window.

You all want the run infos?  I can cross post that too, but off the top:

We can do these clockwise or counterclockwise.  Garmin maps for both directions.  Estimated times are out of N'Town so that shaves almost 2 hours off the times you many remember from Canton

S.O.S. (Start of Spring) - The oldest Kappa run in NE Ohio.  About 3 to 3.5 hours.
T2TR - The original, crazy run featuring the Hill Climb on Route 26 and 555 (Ohio's 1-1/2 hr long version of The Dragon) - This one is a good 4.5-5 hrs.  Lunch stop makes it over 5.
Short Stack - My favorite little Wild Mouse ride.  Love this run!  Featuring Ghost Town with people!  Only 1-1/2 to 2 hours.
555 West - A shortened version of T2TR that sweeps you down to 555 and back to N-Town again.  Another 4-4.5 hr run.
S.O.W. (Start of Winter) - A mix of T2TR roads with some cruising in the middle then back to 555...if you do the long version.  There is a shortened version as well.  Short is like 3.5-4 hrs.  Long is 5.

There is also interest in bringing back the old T2TR DH which we used to run out of Zanesville in October.  Basically get to 555 and run it down and back up.  Probably will take close to 5 hrs.

We've also visted Amish country a few years ago with a trip to Lehman's Hardware.  And there is interest in exploring some new stuff.  Which I'd kinda like to do.

So that's the scoop on the runs.  Roadkill Stickers will be available and Awards will be given for various incidents during the runs...or for overall silliness! :D

Has Dashark come up with a opossum sticker yet?  I totally creamed one driving home from NASSM.  It was running across the road from left to right and I totally would have missed it by swerving over to the left lane but the stupid sucker did a 180 in the middle of the road and ran right under my car.

Do you have photographic evidence or a witness? Without such you do not get a sticker ;)

Sorry, im just repeating the sharks rules!

I checked with him before Asheville and he's running low on deer.  Now that he has a little more time on his hands, I'll tell him to make more.  I might meet up with him tonight since he and Patty couldn't make it out Friday and I'll pass the word.  You earned that one!!

Not sure if he has 'possum or not yet.  I mean, basically it's a large rat.  I'll check.  And I do believe it has to be a confirmed kill, but I'll verify.  Blood and guts may qualify.

Hmmm...maybe I'll do a creative kill award this year.  Trying to remember what I did when we did Roadkill Weekend a few years back?  I know I did Kill it and Grill it.  But I'm not sure if I had a creative kill.  Kimmy deserves an exotic kill award for the frog!

Oh wait, I remember!  I applied a point system to the kills and awarded based on points that year!!  ;)

How about, "Best Description of a Kill" Award?  I definitely need to meet up with Marky tonight and discuss!  :D

Hey Diane...Marky has spoken...
You need proof of fur, skin, or a witness for the confirmed kill. And he does have 'possum.

Shiny, I've relayed the message!

I've updated the list, but haven't posted it here yet.  Will try to do later tonight.

Here's the breakdown:  39 kappas, 1 mini, and 2 without their kappa!  Not a bad start!!!

Gonna be ridiculous!!!

Thanks.  I was trying to upload it as a jpeg so people wouldn't have to download it.  But the file sharing is being a PITA tonight. :(

So we have:
42 Kappas, 1 Mini, and 3 tagalongs! :)
