New to Kappa Performance Forum
« on: July 14, 2012, 10:11:20 AM »
Hey Guys,

I've owned my 2006 Solstice since 2009, but I have only just started to Mod it. I know it's not the LNF, but it is a 5 spd and has LSD. I have aquired these turbo parts from Jinsoku3g over at the solstice forum here:  http://www.solsticeforum.com/forum/f30/selling-custom-2-4-turbo-kit-etc-72471/ and I plan on installing it over the winter so I'll probably be here looking for tips on the install as this will be my first turbo venture.

Welcome to the forum,  you have come to the right place for performance mods.  You will want to get some pictures of your car posted before Kelu reads this thread.

Filter element directly on the turbo. Where did the MAF get relocated to?

Welcome to the forum and all the fun!

Looks to me like the Maf is on the cold side charge piping up front, you can see it in the picture. I know I'm not a fan of the filter right on the turbo either so I plan on finding an intake that will fit or just building one myself...

They do that on a lot of japanese cars.

Good luck with the install. I have a very similar turbo[Albiet a hybrid] in my 2.0 and it pulls really well.  You should be very happy with the results

By the pic, I would look at doing something like the K&N intake for the 2.0L. Which would take you from the turbo, under the passenger side charge tube, up over the radiator and then filter in the front of the radiator shroud.

Hope that helps,

Yes, I was thinking about using some sort of cold air intake that was made for the 2.0L. I just have to see what the difference is between the diamter of the tubing and the turbine inlet as well as make a block of plate for what I am assuming is a MAF in that picture. But that is what I was ultimatly hoping to do

When you go to install the turbo, I would suggest to move the MAF to the drivers side charge tube like in the picture. The reason is that while tuning you will be able to measure the post intercooler temperature and tune accordingly. Another benefit of the MAF closer to the engine is on the 2.4L you will get a better response from the MAF during transitions.

Cool, thanks for the tips!

I intended on using the MAF location that was already in the charge piping and making a block off plate for the CAI when I eventually get it, this is probably gonna be a long process though, I'll probably even tune it down to around 270HP to try to make the stock clutch last until I can get a good aftermarket one
