Official Dyno Thread(2012)
« on: July 15, 2012, 12:20:40 AM »
Well guys, here it is!

The official dyno thread for 2012.

Some rules/regulations:

1. You must post a graph.
2. Make sure to post mods as per the Form (I will not add you to the list unless this is complete).
3. You can post videos, but the graph is the main bit needed to make the list.
4. If I find that a graph is not showing up/working, I will remove you from the list until an updated file is provided.
5. You must have a Solstice/Sky/Opel GT/G2X to be added to the list.

Hahaha, 40rty you little Cobalt-er, I recognize this from Cobalt forum but a nice idea  :lol:

May I suggest something?
Because we are not so many heavily tuned in Kappa world as Cobalt and because we are generally older don't you think to drop the abbreviation and ask for full info through something like a form?

Here is my example:
Intake = Custom - 76mm (3 inch) pipes
Filter =  ITG air filter
Exhaust Manifold = Garret casted T25 flanged - with diverter adaptor for external wastegate
Aftermarket Down pipe = Custom with recirculated wastegate exhaust
Cat-back exhaust = Solo Mach Shorty
Tuning/ Tuner = ZOD Racing from Italy tuned locally on dyno and street
Drag Radials or Slicks = No, Michelin PS2
Turbo Kit = GT3071R custom kit
GM Stage 1 = stock calibration as base
Cat Delete = Catless downpipe (shouldn't this be integrated with the downpipe)
Race or above 93 octane gas = Pump Gas (European 100 octane gas)
Intercooler = Dejon Power Horse
Chargepipes = Custom with many silicone adapters/couplers
GM Stage 1 Sensors = Yes

Boost Controller = Electronic GReddy Profec Spec-II
BOV = HKS SSQV atmospheric
Wastegate = Tial 44mm
Clutch = Spec Stage 3+ and SPEC flywheel
MAF = stock relocated to cold side pipe

I would specify type of dyno, temp of the dyno and settings: Superflow 800, power corrected to the engine, 104-106F (38-40C)

I wont post the graph of my very first turbo kit (BTF gt3076r kit)

I'll just put the second one (BTF gt3582r kit),

SKY888 GT3582R + AEM meth = 403whp & 382 ft-lbs

SMG tuned it last 2009 = 403whp and 382 ft-lb
During this time, HPTuner hasn't opened the cool tables.........boost, fuel, etc
We didnt push the tune, since its not worth blowing an engine. because during that time, nobody really knows where things start breaking.  We were one of the first in the unchartered territory.

I = BTF huge intake
F = AEM
H =  stock Turbo Manifold
DP = 3" BTF Down pipe
E = Solo Mach Shorty
T/T = SMG
TK = BTF gt3582r kit
WI = AEM Water/Meth Injection
Gas = 93 octane gas
IC = Hahn Intercooler
CP = DDM Chargepipes

Boost controller = Blitz Spec ID Spec-R
Clutch = Spect Stage 3+ non SAC
WG = Tial 38 mm wg

This is all for now.

I'll post my other build's numbers/info once I'm finished! :)

lol I doubt it, I'm sure some of the v8 guys hit higher numbers.  I've got some new graphs, but waiting to crack off a magic torque# before I bother posting them.  Then, standing mile runs.  Then, this setup goes in the garbage and the new one goes in.

I'm open to all suggestions, so if you think a form with all your mods is better than we can do that. If others agree then we can get it started.

 Also, I'd like to have people post even if you don't have much done. If you have dyno'd and have a form of showing us the graph then your in. Please, would like to populate this with more people. Where is RoadRunner? Hmmm I wish I had gmtech's build list. I don't know it all. I'd like to add him. Man, I'm going to do a search for dyno graph's and see if I can add some that way. Thanks to all that have participated. GJ, what the heck bud, post up!

 So you mean to tell me there are no 2.4L Kappa's modded?????????

IMO I would list out everything and have people fill it out like a form. Forget abbreviations, just causes confusion. It takes 3x longer to decode and less likely people will read it... i would go something like the following... if its blank, assume its stock.

Next in line after him that I have seen is another V8 Kappa that was at a dyno day event and made 700+whp. Both vids are on youtube. I'll find them later and post them. As if stands though and taking part in the community(Even as a one off) You are top Kappa!

That 938 number is on a rofljet dyno... so it doesnt really count. you have to remember comparing dynojet to mustang is about 13% different. (mustang reading lower) The dyno dynamics are about 12% lower than a dynojet reads as well.

I bet if u put the ls9 against the 2jz on the same dyno, i bet they would be alarmingly close in hp

Here's mine. Since then we were able to go up to 28 PSI from 22 but have not had it on the dyno yet. I figure we pulled another 60HP more which would put her at about 480WHP

Here's mine. Since then we were able to go up to 28 PSI from 22 but have not had it on the dyno yet. I figure we pulled another 60HP more which would put her at about 480WHP

GMTECH's Graph and vid:
He has since added a 5th injector to his build
http://s841.photobucket.com/albums/z...y-Computer.mp4

His notes:
The video was from a dyno I did last year, and the chart was from one I did where I literally had the car on the dyno for 10 minutes. The tach lead was losing the signal, and the operator didn't listen to me when I told him to start the run at 2k rpm. Oh well. I'm sure it would put down a good 20 or 30 more hp and trq now, but I doubt I'd be over 500. ~480whp/wtq is where it stops for me, unless I blow up this motor and have to build another. For right now it's a hella good running daily driver. Did a 3.6 second 60-100 this morning getting on the freeway UPHILL. The car is so d@mn fun, and yeah Miller, it literally sounds awesome! I'll try to get some good video from the back one of these days.

BTW, I just did the math on this dyno- I'm OVER 400whp/400wtq average for a 4k rpm spread. And this dyno is probably at least 20 or 40 hp/tq below what I'm at now. I took the readings from 9 rpm spots between 3.5k and 7.5k rpm's, added them all up and divided by 9. Both torque and hp came out to over 400 for the average. THAT'S what good tuning, modding and turbo choice is all about! If I was really anal about the numbers, I'd go back and MAKE the guy start the runs at 2k rpm. I was literally on the dyno for like 15 minutes and I didn't even look at the charts until I got home! Actually, the guy gave me the files on my laptop, I got home and they weren't even my dyno runs! I didn't even have an idea on what my own car put down! I called the other guy that was there and asked him, he didn't even remember! We were there to dyno his car, mine was kind of a spur of the moment thing. The dyno guy finally emailed me the files, I looked at them and noticed he wasn't starting the run until after 3k and also noticed the tach signal was dropping out. Oh well. I'm not going back just to make some little bit higher and wider numbers.[/

Monadzback's Video and Graph: He has since added a 5th injector and has a fully built motor.
